  • My Daughter

This has been a very interesting year for my oldest daughter.  For years, she has wanted to be a Contintental Singer.  My husband and I held off on letting her go because she lacked the maturity and responsibility we felt necessary to be able to handle such a big undertaking.  Last year about this time, my husband and I talked and we felt that she was probably ready.  We gave her the go ahead to audition.

In this high tech world, it was kind of difficult to make an audition tape to send in.  It didn't matter anyway, since she was "not accepted" the first time she auditioned over the phone.  It was recommended that she take a couple of singing lessons and try again in the fall.  Knowing how much she wanted to do this, I put the effort into finding someone to give her singing lessons.  She had three lessons total and it made such an improvement.

This time for the audition we got smart.  I can record video on my digital camera.  So that is what we did.  I kicked the three younger kids outside, put my camera on the tri-pod, and turned on the music.  I emailed the audition to the Contintentals and they watched it while I was IM'ing them.  She was approved right then and there.  We were so excited.

That was just the start of the journey.  Then we needed to fundraise.  Enough said.  I basically put it in the hands of God though and let my daughter know that if she was meant to go, that God would allow it.  And if it was not God's will for her to go, there would be nothing that we could do to make it happen.  As it turned out, we raised all the funds we needed, including rehearsal camp fee, airline ticket, and clothing required for the dress code about two weeks before the sponsorship was due.  God is so good.

My point in writing all of this, is that it is finally here.  She is at rehearsal camp as I write this.  She will be gone for the next four weeks, having a good time, making new friends, and most importantly, growing in her relationship with the Lord.  I am very excited for her.

  • Hi everyone! I'm just getting started on Revelife... Drop me a comment if you've got some ideas on what to do first - or just to say, "Hi!" :-)
  • Hmm,

I was enjoying blogging and then I found out that yahoo was going through so many changes and possibly even closing.  It just took the joy out of it for me.  Let's see what this does.  I will have to think about what things I could blog about.  I actually have quite a bit, but when I am doing it, I don't think about it.

    Well, happy blogging!

About Me

  • I have been married to a gift from God for the past 16 years. Together, we have 4 more gifts, 2 daughters and 2 sons. I am a stay at home homeschooling mom. A few other moms and I got together last year and started a new homeschool support group called CHEER. CHEER stands for Christian Home Educators Eclectic and Relaxed. Ask me about it, especially if you homeschool and are looking for a support group. I love God and being a part of the church. I love camping and hanging out in the mountains. That is pure joy to me. I also really enjoy knitting. It is amazing to me the intricate fabrics you can make from a string. I also sell Avon. I have sold for about two years and do pretty well if I say so myself. I started selling just to get my own product, but it has grown from there. It's a great way to bring in some extra income.

....I've gotten some really ugly comments, much more so here than at any of the other blogs I have. Not a nice witness. I'm thinking about just cutting and running. Dern it! I used to like Xanga. Where do you post most at? Over on your myspace?

@steadfastmom - @steadfastmom - Wups... I guess I talk too much... the chatboard cut me off. LOL! I was sayin' that Revelife has been a disappointment for me. It's my first adventure in online Christian communities, really, and I don't think I like it. It's pretty combative and I don't think the

@steadfastmom - yeah, I know! I have every good intention of getting on here. Between life being busy and trying to be intentional about NOT getting on the computer as much, revelife has suffered. I will try to be better! :)
