by miss poppy Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.
- 1 Corinthians 9:25
I don't know about you, but I work out. Most days, you can either see me sweating to death on my exercise bike or walking around my neighborhood, sometimes both. Other days, you can find me doing Tae-Bo. Now, I'm not planning to be a competitive athlete, but I know that training, however amateur it may be, ain't always fun. In fact, I'd call it pretty un-fun.
I've been struggling lately in my relationship with God, but it's not a bad struggle. It's a struggle toward something good. I'm in no danger of leaving my heavenly Father, only fighting through to know Him better. I'm training, working hard to change the shape of my spiritual body, getting rid of the flab that has held me back for years from experiencing God's fullness.
Training ain't fun. But it's worth it when I see that my body does what I want it to do. In the same way, as I get to know God more fully, the pain becomes nothing compared to the reward. How is God leading you to train spiritually?
