Dude, this is totally awesome! A crisp and clear articulation of the hope to be found in Christ...that the Gospel is actually 'good news.' I especially liked how you noticed the use of the word in the KJV 'put him [Adam] into the garden of Eden to dress it' ...rather than the more standard definition of abad (to work or serve). And how you fleshed out that their original role was to 'dress' the garden, but after the fall they used the garden to dress themselves. And how we each of us face the same temptation today.
And how our theology informs our choices...your sermon was very encouraging! It encourages me that my choices for work matter to God. That I work out my salvation (or safety) daily...including my means for provision. I'm learning that God invites me to Holiness/authenticity through my vocational choice...and as you suggest its aligned with my own desires (what stirs me).
Nice! I live in Boston, wish you were closer, it'd be great to hear another sermon or better yet just hang out over a cup of tea!
btw - I've been encourage by what you've shared here in the past, but didn't get this bigger picture (or maybe just how what you've seen revealed of God in your life aligns with what I've seen revealed in mine). And I'm glad I get it now.
