  • Calling for Faith

So, there's this verse on my wall. It's Numbers 23:19, and it goes a little like this:

"God is not a man, so He does not lie.
He is not a human, so He does not change His mind.
Has He ever spoken and failed to act?
Has He ever promised and not carried it through?"

It's on my wall and I walk past it every day, I glance at it, see it out of the corner of my eye, and sometimes even pause to read it.

And it's there for two reasons.

The first is that it is incredible. It's amazing. It's inspiring. And it's encouraging.

The second is that it's tough.

Not that I don't believe it, I do, with all of my heart. It's just -- have you ever wanted something for your life, and genuinely believed God was behind it? That it's part of His master plan? And then it flops. You're left feeling deflated, confused and quite frankly, a little dizzy from the whole experience.

It's tough. And it challenges me every day. Challenges me to really search for the God-breathed experiences and purposes in my life. It takes courage, and it takes faith.

When it comes down to it, God has never left me. He's never failed me. He's never hurt me. It's been me misreading the world. Seeing what I want to in it. And not seeking Truth. And it's something that I need to work on every day.

After reading Numbers 23:19, how do you respond?  How has God answered this promise in your life?  What in your life are you praying for God to act on, and how can you be patient as you wait?
