  • Pray Hard: It Works!

    John 14:15 says, "If you love me, you will keep my commandments."

    I truly love the Lord. I obeyed to the best way I can. I want Him to feel that He is my first priority. But how will I completely express it if I have bondage that hinders me from expressing my love to Him?

    I believed that it was God's plan that, when I was out of the country for a short vacation, I was invited on a Women's Encounter. At first I knew that it's like a retreat, a,d I have attended some before. But this was different, because at that time I had lots of bondage.

    I want Him to feel my love so I grabbed the opportunity with a hope in mind that when, I go back to my country, I will be renewed, a person pleasing in His eyes.

    God wants us to be holy, so I work for a bondage free life. James 4:7 says, "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." Part of the encounter was the listing of the bondage we want to surrender to the Lord. So I tore into pieces the paper where I had my list, prayed and burned it. I told myself that I should never be bothered, because I knew God will be in charge of it.

    So how come one of them come back to me when I reached my country?

    Do I have a fake love for Him? Are my cries and prayers not enough to wash out those mess on my spirits? How will I show God that I love Him if I can't stop sinning?

    I prayed hard for God's deliverance so it would be stopped immediately. I told myself that I should be firm on my promise that I will not allow it to happen again and I claimed for a victorious end and hold on to what the Bible says on Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through him who strengthens me." After praying I felt better.

    When have you seen prayer seriously impact your life?  What bondage do you hold on to in life that you'd like to surrender to God?

    38 years of Christianity and I never saw it work. The only time I saw it so called "work" was if your "believing" gave you a positive mindset. That only proves the power of positive thinking and proves there is a little truth in the law of attraction.

    @LadyboyRevolution@xanga - Nailed it. Prayer has no measured effect.

    Anecdotal evidence has a margin of error +/- 100%.

    I think your journey is a common one, it is important to keep moving forward.  Also we are called to love ourselves, to be compassionate.  We put ourselves under a lot of pressure to be a certain way,  when it fact growth and healing take time and again.... a conscious choice to trust in God's love and grace is something that needs to be develop.  You can't dance looking at your feet, so, the same goes with you dance with God, look to him, trust, get up, move forward and don't believe you negative emotions, they may be there for the rest of your life.....love that part of yourself, embrace and don't fight it, bring it to Clhrist Jesus.  Not easy I know, but conscious choice is needed.

    Peace

    Jesus said we "always ought to pray and not lose heart" (Luke 18:1). So when you have been coming to God in the name of Jesus consistent & persistently and you feel it was to no avail DON'T GIVE UP! Bring God's Word back to Him and say "Thy God hath commanded thy strength: strengthen, O God, that which thou hast wrought for us." (Psalm 68:28 KJV) basically let Him know you know what He can do and ask Him to bring it pass.

    Lord bless you sis!

    "Moment by moment I'm kept in His love,
    Moment by moment I've life from above;
    Looking to Jesus till glory doth shine;
    Moment by moment, O Lord, I am Thine.

    Never a battle with wrong for the right,
    Never a contest that He doth not fight;
    Lifting above us His banner so white;
    Moment by moment I'm kept in His sight.

    Never a trial that He is not there,
    Never a burden that He doth not bear;
    Never a sorrow that He doth not share,
    Moment by moment, I'm under His care.

    Never a heartache, and never a groan,
    Never a teardrop, and never a moan;
    Never a danger but there on the throne
    Moment by moment He thinks of His own.

    Never a weakness that He doth not feel,
    Never a sickness that He cannot heal;
    Moment by moment, in woe or in weal,
    Jesus, my Savior, abides with me still."

    @When_We_Were_Both_Cats@xanga - Prayer does have a measurable effect. Tests have shown that Tibetan monks experience enhancement to the area of the brain where mercy and compassion are centered.

    Also, the prayer of petition, the type of prayer that you are referring to, is only one type of prayer.

    Most of my praying is prayer of gratitude. If you want to feel a tingle up your leg I recommend a little of that action.

    Tibetan Monks would meditate, not exactly pray to your deity. When meditation has a measured effect on physical brain activity, it's hardly proof for divine claims.

    "It is not about you becoming "good" so God will save you... It's about coming to God and you will be saved. And, in the power and perfection of the Holy Spirit you become good.":)
    Always be reminded about the message of the cross. Remember that God loves us in the most personal, sacrificial and unconditional ways. (John 3:16)
    Love you sis with the love of the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour. :)

    @When_We_Were_Both_Cats@xanga - Prayer is a type of meditation. There is meditative prayer, contemplative prayer, prayers of praise, prayers of gratitude and prayers of supplication.

    You only know prayer of supplication.  And since God never submitted to the role of your personal jinn you have proclaimed prayer to be a failure.

    In response to the title, Jesus prayed hard, and it didn't work.  He wanted the Lord to "take this cup from me" if it was his will, and it wasn't.  Praying harder for something doesn't mean it will happen.  I do believe in prayer though.  It's an important part of the Christian life.

  • LadyboyRevolution@xanga

    @When_We_Were_Both_Cats@xanga - You are exactly correct!!! Christians cannot be trusted monopolizing there make believe "truth" since most people in insane asylums are Christians and most scientists are not.

  • Rocky

    @LadyboyRevolution@xanga - There are plenty of testimonies of answers to prayer all about you. I have known many. Don't let your sexual feelings or preferences keep you from knowing God or His Son. He is much bigger and more gracious than He is portrayed by many.

  • LadyboyRevolution@xanga

    @Rocky - WTF does my "sexual feelings or preferences" have to do with this conversation????

  • LadyboyRevolution@xanga

    @Rocky - Why do you have SEX on your mind??? Why are you checking out my profile CREEP???

  • Rocky

    @LadyboyRevolution@xanga - just guessing that at some point in 38 years as a Christian that you might have asked God to give you "normal" feelings about yourself and others. Since your feelings never changed you may have assumed that God didn't care or didn't exist. On the other hand, you may have had other prayers go unanswered or maybe you prayed for a love one who never got better. Glad you have peace in your life now, if I may assume that. BYW your website address appears to be incorrect on your profile.

    @Rocky - if you could ever manage to find a girlfriend with the way you insert your foot in your mouth that would prove a "miracle" right there. You are a CREEP!!! Get SEX off your mind you porn addict!!!!

  • LadyboyRevolution@xanga

    @Rocky - Do I look like a "kathoey" to you "genius"??? Do not EVER make assumptions about my fiance! EVER!

  • notinwonderlandanymore@xanga

    @LadyboyRevolution@xanga -sorry to interrupt but what@ Rocky - said really irritated me! How dare you? That's so rude. Who are you to criticise her? Who are you to tell her why she left Christianity and and that her feelings aren't "normal". She simply said she didn't believe prayer worked, and you come along and tell her her feelings are essentially abnormal? I thought Christians were supposed to be kind and compassionate.

  • Rocky

    @daydreams_nightmares@xanga - Neither you nor LBR (who isn't the shemale in the profile pic) have enough intelligence or social graces to merit a conversation. Anyone can see that neither of you have made any accusations against me that are based in fact. I don't converse with angry, unintelligent people. This should explain why our conversation has ended.

  • Rocky

    @bestchoicemayonnaise   If we may assume that your unspoken "bondage" was sexual in nature, perhaps you were trying to rid yourself of something that wasn't a bondage of sin, but rather intrinsic to being human like fantasies and masturbation. If so, God hasn't let you down at all and you haven't failed to show your love for Him. These are usually considered normal expressions of both males and females. People have a LOT of false beliefs and false guilt built up around masturbation practices, not realizing what the sin of lust actually is.

    In answer to your questions, I have had and have witnessed many answers to prayer, healing and divine interventions. I'm not aware of any bondages in my life, but I do have a need to learn to be more concerned about making financial gains and having discipline in that area.

    I do believe every time I pray God is alway been there for me and never forsake me. He never left my side. My name is Jonny Huynh I was charge with attempted murder,premeditated murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and with gang enhancement. These charge all together would cause me to serve a sentence of 25 years to life but instead I got charge with assault with a deadly weapon and serve a year in jail. I can say I'm very bless and when I got out of jail God send people to better me I was plug in a Church community that love me so much. My church know that I was here for a reason. Matthew 4:19 that was my purpose.
