Isn't Christianity about accepting people? That's what I was taught in bible study when I was growing up. A few years ago I was walked out of a church for sitting with my girlfriend... so much for being accepting. I have my faith, and I am gay. I don't believe for one second that I will be denied access to 'heaven' because I lay in bed with a female. From what I remember, god doesn't work that way. I think these boycotts against the homosexual community only show how truly hateful these moms are. How truly unchristian they are. Love thy neighbor.

@PrisonerxOfxLove@xanga - Ok, then. Let's take one argument at a time, shall we? Here is what you said. "The norm is heterosexuality. The norm is health not disease or deformity or mental or sexual disorders. Human nature is defined by the norm. Consequently heterosexuality is integral to human nature, not homosexuality."

Well I say the norm is also being less than 6 feet tall. Most people are less than 6 feet tall, aren't they? So being less than 6 feet tall is integral to human nature. But look at all those tall people! They should squat down so they don't bully the rest of us with their tallness.

    What's wrong with that argument?

The thing that's wrong is that being 6 feet tall is not damaging to a person's life. Someone who is ill will be in pain and suffer health problems, but someone who is tall or gay will not. It's not enough that something is uncommon. You can't ban something unless it is harming others.

You can then say to me, but they are hurting themselves by defying god, and will suffer in the afterlife. But because we have religious freedom, the government is not allowed to favor any belief over another. Beliefs about the afterlife are religious beliefs. They are therefore useless for deciding law.

@PrisonerxOfxLove@xanga - Hitler wasn't an atheist. He invoked Christianity into all of his speeches.

Not to mention, one of the most genocidal movements in the last decade was held by the United States itself, which you constantly try to claim as a Christian nation - the civilian death toll in the Middle East ranges from 40,000 to 100,000 depending on the sources. Even the most conservative estimates of 40,000 is genocidal.

Your naturalistic fallacies and hatred wrapped up in religious convictions won't convince any thinking person.

@biggirlsdontcriyiyiyi@xanga - Sometimes I think I would want to lay in bed with 2 females at the same time.  Other times I want to lay in bed with a male to female transsexual including maybe a pre-op, functional one, maybe with a significantly larger male member than me.  Always Always Always I want to lick their feet.  I'm a pervert.  My service in the Israeli Army was a waste of 2 years of my life unless you look at it as dues paid to a G_d who is not amused.

  • atheist

that is fucked up. but so is christianity.

  • jessispeaks

What kills me is, let's say that JCPenney were to get a "straight" spokesperson. Even if this person were living in sexual immorality, so long as they're heterosexual, it's ok. I am a Christian and I love my fellow sisters, but I gotta say...geez, y'all. Lighten up.

    @tst08@xanga - You are joking, right? I just...yeah

  • ZombieMom_Speaks@xanga

@ColdSkivvies@xanga - Not to mention the fact that the same tired old bullshit arguments were used to keep interracial couples from marrying. It was stupid then, it's stupid now, and thankfully, it's on the way out as more people embrace diversity and stop being so afraid of those they do not understand.

Well Well Well, I see someone has hijacked this post & is trying to make it into what

    they

deem acceptable behavior per the Bible. At the risk of being dragged into this silly no-win fight here, I won't be putting any @ symbols at names - because I am sure that everyone with a brain knows who I am in reference to.

For the record..man wrote the Bible, sure it apparently was "gods word" or whatever..but do we really know that? I mean how do we know that the "Man" didn't slip in a few of what HE wanted? Since we have free will & all. Food for thought.. IMO. I believe in Love no matter the gender & this..One Million Moms is absolutely silly & I am now shopping more at JCPenny, GO ELLEN! :D

@When_We_Were_Both_Cats@xanga - There was nothing Christian about Adolf Hitler's brand of fascism. The NAZI's believed the Germanic peoples were superior to any other. And in the East, Hitler engaged in what he called a War of Annihilation.

Mass murder of inferior races is anything but Christian.

Learn about Christianity. Then learn about NAZIism. Then do a comparison.

Politicians and demogagues pander and lie. Hitler as a matter of fact stated categorically that lying was a tool of statecraft.

So anytime he invoked Christianity he was pandering and lying.

It is unjust to blame Christianity for Hitler's philosophy of pandering, lying and mass murder.
  • PrisonerxOfxLove@xanga

@wobster109@xanga - You don't get to say what's normal.  Mother Nature gets to say what's normal.

Homosexuality is not normal according to the way nature developed sexuality.

Normal, natural sexuality is based on gender, male and female.

So just as you would redefine marriage according to personal whim so are you trying to redefine human nature.

The reality of human nature is already defined. We cannot rationally or honestly redefine it according to our personal whims.
  • Trueinnerbeauty@lovelyish

@ShimmerBodyCream@xanga - I'm curious to see how they will react to Jim Parsons being gay, I mean his character on The Big Bang Theory is from a devout Christian family

  • agapeartbeat

I have no problem with these moms "boycotting" JCP.  If they feel convicted to do so, than they should follow their convictions.  People do or don't shop at certain stores for all kinds of reasons.  There are local mom and pop shops that I support simply because they are local.  I also still shop at Wal-Mart at times but avoid "made in China" as much as I can.

Personally, in regards to Christian principles, I see a deterioration in this country's moral compass.   Whenever I hear a business supports or promotes ideals or policies that contribute to such deterioration, I quit shopping there.  It isn't about punishing them.  I just don't want to make it easy for them (giving them my dollars by buying their products) just to continue moving in a direction I can't support.  I work hard for my income and am picky where I spend it.  We can’t complain about our culture’s decline, yet support those who contribute to that decline.  If our culture keeps slipping, while we keep shopping at these very places, maybe we (those who actually hold to biblical principals) are reaping what we are sowing?

  • MagisterTom@xanga

@biggirlsdontcriyiyiyi@xanga - I don't know what they taught you, but from what you said, they lied to you. Jesus is not "accepting" or "tolerant." He commanded people to repent of sin and trust in His death and resurrection to pay for their sins. And, yes, homosexuality whether it be two men, or two women, is clearly stated to be a sin. See Romans 1.

@agapeartbeat - I disagree with you on the boycott, but agree with you on the rest. I think when it becomes an organized thing to punish a person or corporation it turns into something other than personal convictions, and becomes something closer to bullying.
  • PrisonerxOfxLove@xanga

@ZombieMom_Speaks@xanga - There is no difference between white human beings and black human beings.

There is however a difference between male and female.

Gay marriage says that there is no difference between male and female. That of course is obviously not the case.

Therefore the comparison between blacks marrying and gay marrying is a false comparison.

I'm gonna boycott christianity until y'all learn to judge by fruits. I hope God follows my lead.

  • TiredSoVeryTired@xanga

Can J.C. Penney boycott them?  Like sometimes for reals, I wish companies could boycott Million Moms or Westboro or whatever.  No shirts, No Shoes, No Compassion, No Brains, No Service.

  • day_of_the_dead@xanga

yeah, lets show them the love of God by trying to ruin their businesses and livelihood. that will really make them want to accept Christ!

  • Pollypinks@xanga

We find about 7 or  8 scriptures about homosexuality, and rather than putting them in the Greek context, and the context with which people then lived, we put our own bigoted feelings and attitudes about them in place, going around making darn sure than those who've never been attracted to the opposite sex must never attend our churches, or be a part of normal civilization.  It's immature and hateful, and when we have two same sex people adopting children, we just love to go around punishing the innocent children for our behavior, behavior that Christ never once proclaimed.

  • PrisonerxOfxLove@xanga

@jim_the_american@xanga - The demand of gay rights advocates to redefine marriage has nothing to do with tolerance.

It is an outright totalitarian fascist attempt to destroy human rights by destroying the critical importance of human nature as the basis for human rights.

To you folks "tolerance" means total capitulation to the destruction of our society as it was founded and maintained.
  • PrisonerxOfxLove@xanga

@Pollypinks@xanga - Homosexuality is an abomination in Old Testament Hebrew also. So there is no "Greek context." That's just something you made up. A lie if you will.

Judeo-Christianity has always taught that sodomy was evil.
  • stocking_j@xanga

Good grief, some of the comments on this story take away my hope for humanity.

I understand that as a christian person it may be hard to understand homosexuality or to even come anywhere close to accepting it. I understand that you truly, truly believe that what you are saying is right and that it is FACT. To me, it just shows a lack of experience for the world around you. Have you ever tried to talk to a homosexual person or communicate with them? Have you ever learned what they go through, who they are? I'm sorry, but a homosexual person is just a person. That's it. Their sexuality is as much of a qualifier to me as me being heterosexual is.
I consider myself a spiritual, but non-religious person. I truly believe that religions are a way for people to bully others who are not like themselves. It is taken advantage of constantly and it makes me sick. I believe that if it is really that bad then god will sort it out. I don't think god would make people gay if it was such a sin and yes, I believe that it is something people are born with based on personal experience and stories i have heard. I don't think someone should be forced to be miserable their whole lives and pretend they are not gay just to make christians "Feel better." Christians need to start being more understanding and realize that their beliefs are not the only beliefs that exist in this world. That just because they tolerate something doesn't mean they agree with it. That is why you will not see me protesting outside of any church even though I think it's a load of shit.
Follow what you preach and don't just select parts out of the bible that fit what you think is right. It's bullshit and it's hypocritical.
  • greatredwoman@xanga

Prejudice, stereotypical thinking and being judgmental must be overcome with love. Love for everyone..of color, gender, creed, sexual persuasion and culture. That is what Jesus would have said.. Jesus, who hung out with taxpayers, prostitutes and fisherman..the lowly of his time and place. Open your heart and mind. Love is always the more excellent way. On the one hand you say you are Christian and on the other hand you espouse hatred and scorn. Sad.

You are brave to put this on here, I must say that for you.

I will not boycott JC Penney.

God came into the world, whose life, teaching, death, and resurrection overcame  alienation and renewed the relationship between God and God's people.  This perspective is absent from the current debate about homosexuality in the churchl  The Bible hardly ever discusses homosexual behavior, in contrast to, let's say, economic injustice.  Only Romans 1 deals with some of the central themes of the Bible.  Let's just take our Old Testament stories as examples.  The sacred obligation of hospitality  for travelers, and the ways in which sinful people often violated this sacred obligation, make us aware that  to be exposed to the elements at night could mean death.  Sodom and Gomorrah 19:1-29 and Judges 19:1-30 tell stories of a host inviting men into his house.  Later an angry mob surround the house and emend that the host turn over his guests.  Foreigners are clearly not welcome and they may be raped or killed.  Then, homosexual rape was a way to accentuate the subjection of captive enemies.  The most humiliating experience for a man was to be treated like a woman, and raping a man was the most violent ssh treatment.  Notice the cultural emphasis on the superiority of men vs. women as the hosts offer the women in their households over their guests.  Culturally, it was also against the law for a woman to, let's say, take charge of the sexual act by being on top of the man.  We have seen  Biblially that in was the law to have superiority over women, whether they left the home, spoke publicly, and whether or not people had slaves.  Over time we've seen these things change, such as women speaking in church, and having a Civl War to start the  beginnings of getting rid of slavery.  Yet we speak of no changes Biblically concerning these things.  We speak not of Christ using women actively in his church, yet fundamentalist churches continue to deny women any kind of pastoral status.  Back to the sins of Sodom.  In that culture the hosts felt in was more important to protect male visitors than to protect women, even their own daughters or common law wives!  The hosts do not seem to think of the attackers as primarily homosexualsl, or they would not offer women for them.  The sins of Sodom are described as greed, injustice, inhospitality, excess wealth, indifference to the poor, and general wickedness.  In the New T.,, when Jesus referred to the sin of Sodom, as recorded in Luke 10:12 and Matthew 10:15 he was passing judgment on cities that refused hospitality to his traveling disciples.  A focus on the supposed literature influenced by Greek philosophy, comes later in non biblical literature.

Leviticus includes a collection of laws known as the Holiness Code.  Lev.19:2  "You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy." 1. Israel's worship practices had to be different from those of the tribes or nations around them.  They nest be separate erin the Egyptians from whom they escaped, and unmixed with the Caaanites into whose land they had now come.  2.No mixing of any other kind of people, or adoption of customs, or sowing a field with two kinds of seed, and wearing a garment made of two kinds of material.  3.  Gender superiority had to be maintained  A child who cursed his parents could be killed.  Death for adultery, because it was unlawful use of a man's property, the woman.  Homosexal acts fall into the same category, but here it's because the man took a passive role during intercourse which was the role of  women. In effect, he had mixed genders.  Lev. 18:2; 20:13  "You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.  The Hebrew word toevah, translated as "abomination," refers  to something that makes a person ritually unclean, such as having intercourse with a woman while she is menstruating.  I could move on here to the New Testament,  and the difficulty we've all had with "arsenokoites and malakos", but I fear too much has been written for one day.  I would, however, ask if any of you have read the book "White Flour?"
