Notecards: How I Spend Time With the Bible
About four months ago or so, I started writing down any Bible verses that particularly stuck out to me in a sermon, personal devotion, small group study, or whatever. I have accumulated a neat little stack, and it’s become my go-to for just about every situation I find myself in lately.I don’t realize it at the time I’m writing the verses, but I have slowly built up my own little armory of Bible verses, and with that armory there is always a verse or two that speaks to any given situation. It truly amazes me the ways God knows me so well, and I still struggle with trusting him. Humanity really gets in the way sometimes.
On a serious note though, it is truly incredible how I can study a verse at one time and it says one thing to my soul, and yet as I go through a completely different situation that same verse speaks to me on a whole other level and is still 100% applicable. God truly is amazing.
I’ve always had trouble deciding what to study in my personal devotions, and making note cards has really helped me in that area. I have been using notes from Bible studies and Sunday sermons to go back over verses covered and whenever I find one that seems to stick out I grab a note card and jot it down. Not only does it build my time spent in the Word, but I have made a habit of reading through the note cards whenever I find a little free time in my day, and it is helping me to memorize scripture and ultimately build my relationship with Christ.
Another lesson I’ve learned is that sharing testimonies really builds each other up. And I don’t necessarily mean salvation testimonies -- although I always love a good story of how Jesus grace is learned -- but any testimonies, like how God is working in someone’s life and what He is teaching them.
What are some ways you like to spend time with your Bible? Is there anything you’ve discovered over time that helps you to memorize scriptures or that God has used to teach you something and draw you closer to Him?

I read the Divine Office which is the official prayer of the Catholic Church. There are readings for midnight, morning, mid day, late afternoon and evening.
This tradition goes back to the Jews (it's were the Muslims got their 5 times a day prayer) and is written about in Acts.
The Office consists of Psalms, writings from the Church Fathers, various popes, and of course readings from the entire New Testament and Old Testament.
I also pray the Rosary which is a contemplation of 20 vignettes, 18 of which are taken from the New Testament.
