  • Christ's Laid-Down Life

    By Nic Don at Theopolitical

Christ’s laid-down life is there [at the cross] made available for sacrifice, like a ram caught in the thicket. Any man who is humble and serious enough about his sin to recognize what is the proper reparation and penance for it may use the costly gift which another has made available for him to offer as his sacrifice.

Richard Swinburne on the sacrificial (as opposed to penal) nature of the atonement

I do not agree with using this as an analogy, but I do understand what your trying to say, or rather what Swinburne said.

The point of the Rams in the thicket was that when Abraham was asked by Isaac where the Sacrifice was Abraham told Isaac that "God would provide," and that is ultimately what happened, "God provided the sacrifice."  God provided the sacrifice with the horned Ram (lamb) which was only a temporal sacrifice for sins and God later provided the perfect sacrificial Lamb, Jesus Christ, to die and be ressurected for our sins as proof of a God who cares enough to show us the way back to Heaven.

This was a final sacrifice that turned the tables on Satan. No longer would men have to do temporary sacrifices as a temporary fix for our fleshly sin nature that rules over us from birth to death.

For God loves us so much he gave his only begotten Son Jesus Christ to be sacrificed for our sins so we may be counted sinless. Our sins as scarlett as they are are forgotten by God, never to be used against us for ever and ever.

    God Bless,

I would ask that everyone remember the name of the greatest hero this world has ever seen: 'LONGINUS'! Hoorah!

Keep the masses afraid and dazzled by tales of magic and mythology and ye shall be rewarded with much gold
