  • Life is Brutal -- I Mean Beautiful

By Amy at Make Me a Mary

Sometimes it happens all at once. One minute your life is a mess, then the next minute blessing shows up to overwhelm you, huge blessing, and the world is suddenly beautiful again.

But sometimes it takes awhile. The beauty we are promised comes slow. The work is hard, the way is long. He uses all the good and the bad and works it all together to mold and refine and polish.

Today I feel like a dang piece of silver. He’s just polishing away on me, and you know what? It burns.

But still I know He is making my life beautiful. Somehow this will all become beautiful.

Yes, this is exactly what's happening to me now.  I am being pruned, polished, refined--all of those metaphors that we use--and it hurts SO MUCH.  I've just GOTTA trust that this pain will make way for beauty and blessing.

Thank you for all of your posts.  I love reading and hearing from you.

    • About Me: The title of this website was born out of a prayer I began to pray when I became widowed: "Lord, please help me love you more". Over time, I grew to deeply admire Mary Magdalene for the way she loved her Saviour and was completely sold out to Him, and my original prayer evolved into "Lord, make me a Mary." I long to be at the feet of Jesus, too, learning from Him and taking Him in. I also aspire to be like Mary the mother of Jesus, because she exemplifies a total trust in God and in His sovereign plan, even in the midst of frightening circumstances.
