Does God Laugh?
By Amy at Make Me a MaryI remember a scene from “The Passion of Christ” where Jesus is laughing with Mary. Seeing Him laugh surprised me because until then I’d only thought about Jesus’s suffering.
Once I thought about it I realized that Jesus was human, so I’m sure He laughed plenty.
But I wonder, does God laugh, too?
I have a reader, who, when she writes to me says these deep, thought-provoking things that stay with me for days. Here’s a little snippet of her words from yesterday:
“I feel many surprises are coming in your life, and God longs to show you His love on an even deeper level because He loves you so. He thinks you’re a blast and you make Him laugh and bring Him joy in every way and that as much as you are seeking Him, He’s seeking you.”
I thought of my own kids, of the countless ways they make me laugh. I thought of how I love to surprise them and make them smile. I thought of how proud they make me and the joy they bring me every day.
And to think, God takes the same delight in me? Wow.
The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing. Zeph. 3:17 NIV

Does God laugh? I figure She does. But I bet She does a lot more shaking Her head and weeping.
My husband and I were talking about something similar, yesterday. I asked him why he thinks we laugh as humans. Like does it have a purpose? Babies laugh so it can't be "learned".
I think God laughs.
@Lovegrove@xanga - That's only when She hears you singing in the shower, Lovey. :)
Whoa Zeph 3:17 has come up a LOT today. He's talkin to meee
@ makemeamary- I'm sorry for your loss. I do believe God laughs. Why else did he create the platypus? I shall try to make thee merry, Mary. :)
LAUGHING REQUIRES LUNGS.
I recall a verse somewhere in Proverbs: (something to the effect of) "a merry heart is good medicine".
He created the platypus.
'nuf said.
Of course He laughs! What Father doesn't delight in His children? And laughing is part of being human; certainly Jesus had cause to laugh, and Jesus is God.
@PervyPenguin@xanga - dahahahahaha
I think God laughs :)
random short story: One night, I had the hiccups and had made many futile attempts to stop them, so I tried asking God to stop the hiccups (admittedly, it was half jokingly) but, they stopped right then and there. x__x true story."God can be funny, at a cocktail party when listening to a good God-theme joke"
:D this post just reminds me of that song
@nepenthium@xanga - love that song. regina is wonderful.
my personal view of god involves a great deal of laughter. i especially feel he's laughing at me when i take myself too seriously or think i have things so bad when i clearly don't. it's not a malicious laugh at all, it's just kind of a "you're being so silly" laugh, and he shows me he's laughing it by kindly but forcefully bringing me down a peg. sometimes i'm mad at first, but either right away or eventually, i laugh along.
i also think he laughs in all kinds of other situations, but i think those are my favorite.
YES THE GOD DOES LAUGH THE BIBLE IS REPLETE WITH SO MANY INSTANCES OF GOD'S EMOTIONS FOR EXAMPLE IN PSALM 2:44 "He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord
shall have them in derision" ALSO PS 59:8 "8 But thou, O LORD, shalt laugh at them; thou shalt
have all the heathen in derision". JUST TO MENTION A FEW.
THE BIBLE ALSO SHOWED US THAT JESUS GOT HUNGRY LK 4:1-3 "And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from
Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2 Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days
he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered. 3 And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God,
command this stone that it be made bread" ALSO MARK 11:12 " And on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany,
he was hungry"
I CAN GO ON AND ON YOU KNOW BUT YOU KNOW HE HIS A LOVING GOD.
