Christian Persecution: A Call for Believers to Aid One Another
I'm so heated up right now, I just don't even know where to start!
"This is just one guy's passion. Others feel differently."
"This was written in 1967 (revised 1997). It isn't pertinent today."
"Sure someplace is like that, but I don't know where; world's always changing."
"Ok, I get it, but there isn't anything that I can do about it, so why should I even know this stuff?"I held on to these excuses for a little while. A very little while. Not long after I read Tortured for Christ, Michael received his latest Newsweek which contained the article Ayaan Hirsi Ali: The Global War on Christians in the Muslim World.
Pastor Wurmbrand said that, when his foot was clubbed, his tongue cried out. Why would his tongue cry when it was not clubbed? It cried out because the foot and the tongue are part of the same body. So also are we part of the same body. And they are hurting. We cannot just ignore (abandon) our brothers and sisters in Christ.
I implore you, friend, do not stay silent, do not stay blind, do not choose to remain ignorant to this. Please, take an inventory of your own resources and see what you can do to help our brethren. Of course, money is a huge help, but I'm broke, so I'm looking into anything else I can do to help. There are particular things that are always desperately needed from us:
Prayer. (Voice of the Martyrs has a public prayer bulletin if you want specifics. General prayer is needed as well; the Lord knows)
Bibles and Christian literature. (There are plenty of organizations that will get them into the closed countries and distributed.)
Letters to prisoners. (They thirst for the encouragement. Again, Voice of the Martyrs has a sign-up that you can use for this, but there are other ways of gathering information on how to send letters to our captive brothers and sisters.)
Money. (I don't have any, but there are plenty of other people that do. Maybe you're one of them!)
Stay informed. (Know what's going on in the world, so that when the opportunity arises for you to help, you can!)
Tell others. (Now that you see, don't let others remain blind. Our brethren need all the help they can get.)This information is all very new to me, so I'm sorry if I failed to make sense, or didn't provide a thorough checklist, or more precise details. But this little bit is what I know. They need help. I can help them.

My taste in music is EXTREMELY diverse. I like everything from polka to rap...from the 1940's to today...I love it all. I also love gaming. Borderlands has been a recent favorite of mine. But my all-time fav. thing to do is hang out with my friends. :) Especially if Borderlands is involved.

How about persecution from one Muslim to another as well. Don't forget to pray for them as well simply because they aren't of the same faith. Pray for Syria especially these days. Iraq is pretty bad too, and I suppose is more relevant to this post in terms of persecution for religious reasons rather than political. In any case, pray for these places in the middle east.
Go and get ready to serve, and then go serve!
In Sudan, with a population of 30 million, about 3 million have been killed, and another 5 million have fled the Muslims. The 3 million killed were mostly all Christians and were killed by Muslims, so, yes, the Muslims are actively persecuting Christians -- and on a large scale. I found out about this Sudan persecution on EWTN TV, but on the nightly secular news I hear not a word. I guess the liberal media is ok with black people being killed off in large numbers by mid eastern people as long as it is not in the US where the killing is going on.
The tongue and the foot analogy fits all of humanity as well. Look to your own country, whatever it is, and see the torture going on there. It willbe going on as well.
@Shadowrunner81@xanga - Absolutely! They cut out parts of my original post (actually, I'm guessing that it may have been too gruesome for them?) so they could fit it onto Revlife (and added Q's at the end?
not that I mind; they're good questions!), but I had replied to comment on there that the post pertains mainly to Christians because that's what I relate to - because that's who I'm part of - but
crimes like that against anyone are just plain evil! Believers just don't seem to understand that we have an obligation to care because we are representative of Christ! Christ would NOT let Himself just wallow in His own comfort, knowing that there are others suffering.
@monobeam@xanga - That's why so many in the Western church remain blind; America doesn't see what others are going through. That's also why people feel that there's no use in knowing - what can they do about it, anyway? A lot! They just don't realize it because no one will tell them!
@FoxFire12@xanga - Mostly, we are left in the dark on the suffering of those in the Sudan. We rely on the media for info, but they decided to make this issue a non-story.
If each of us on the net passes this info of how Muslims are killing off Christians in the Sudan, then we will help bring this issue to light... where the media chose to sweep it under the rug.
