  • Self-Sabotage: A Cycle of Short Films Composed for Derek Webb's "Feedback"

In 2010, Derek Webb released an instrumental album called Feedback.  As the names of the tracks suggest, the inspiration for the album comes from the Lord's Prayer.  It is as abstract as it is beautiful, leaving a lot to the listener's imagination.

A short film entitled Self-Sabotage by Scott Brignac seeks to give a bit more context to the music.  Over the course of the 25-minute album, Self-Sabotage follows the stories of four individuals whose lives are somehow inexplicably linked.  You can watch the film in its entirety below.

I'm not going to attempt to deconstruct this film and figure it out.   The film's website has one person's perspective on what the different segments of the film are trying to convey.  But that doesn't mean his interpretation is the only one, nor does it have to be the correct one.

After watching the film, what did you get out of it?  What do you think is going on in the four stories?  What links each of the characters together?  What is the film saying about the Lord's Prayer?
