Personally, I don't think it's anyone's business how many kids they have and I think it's awful how many people judge them. That said, they sound/seem like great parents and I wish them nothing but the best of luck :)
Yes, it's too many. Apparently there's no concern for the environment.
Oh, and there is NOTHING miraculous, divine, supernatural etc. about pregnancy. It's biology at work. It's a natural phenomenon. I hope that cow's uterus falls out after this baby. Please. This is disgusting.
I should also say that it takes way more than one non-breeder to offset the effect these people have. I may be sterile by choice but it's not enough to offset the carbon footprint these vile people have bestowed upon the earth. *sigh*....
The couple of times I saw their show, I thought they were a little weird, but some would say the same of me. Weird or not, more power to them. If they want twenty kids and can afford them, congrats to them.
@ProudToBeAChristianFruitcake@xanga - did God personally tell you that He didn't want them to have that many children? He is certainly able to close her womb whenever He wants to. obviously, He has not done that yet.
i certainly don't want to give birth as many times as she has, but as long as she can provide for all those children, i see no problem with it. who am i to tell the duggars how many children they should have?
on another note.. i don't know that i would mind adopting many children, if i could afford it.
@StatelessPilot do you know what it is like to carry a child inside your womb for 9 months? Do you know what it's like to not be able to have children, then one day they tell you that your pregnant? No you don't. Do you know what it's like to find that according to medical science you should never have been able to get pregnant or have a baby? No you don't. So please, stop spouting your crazy psycho babble about things you know nothing about.
I come from a large family. I have 7 brothers and 2 sisters. I love everyone of my family members. And when I found that I had tumors on my ovaries, and that my son should never have been able to be born by me, I thanked God that I was able to have him in my life.So again, please stop and think about what you are going to say before you say it, because many people in this world are happy to be able to have that child they were told they could never have. And I know I'm not the only one.
I think it is stupid. The world is over populated, stop this bullshit. There are some women who have all these kids because they don't have access to birth control, or any education on the matter. This woman could have stopped long ago, her and her husband just chose to put more pressure on our environment. Things like this are EVEN WORSE in developed countries like ours because we use a ridiculous amount of energy and require many more resources than those in underdeveloped countries. People need to stop being fucking idiots, and have children responsibly. It's one thing if you have an unexpected pregnancy or two with your husband, it happens, but these morons are doing it on purpose.
I apologize for the profanity and harsh words but a lack of population control is a major issue in our world and people don't see the big picture. They figure people should just do as they please with their family planning, and as long as they can financially support all the children, it is no one's business. On a small scale, sure, but on a large global scale, it's screwing everyone over.
The irony is if they pulled this in a world that was less connected and didn't have global, national, and regional resource sharing, their community would probably pushed them out for putting a strain on local resources. If communities or societies were for the most part isolated and only had the resources of their local area, they learned population control or they all starved to death. Now it is not just food we eat, but everyone is energy hungry and energy is becoming more costly environmentally as the years go by. And the earth cannot support everyone living like Americans, not even poor Americans.
isn't population control something they do in communist countries? Leave the Duggar family alone. At least the parents are GOOD parents. They have set a great example for their children when it comes to a good marriage, and how a real family should function. If God chooses to bless them with 20 children then that is God's plan.. How can we claim to know better then God?
Too many because it's stopped being a family unite and more like a child-raising-child farm. The parents are there only financially and physically, but I doubt they know enough about their kids to notice something potentially serious. This is like.. child hoarding. Sure, it's "nice" that they have two loving people to "take care" of them, but realistically--are they? The intentions are good, I guess, but I know that growing up I spent a LOT of time with my mom. Here's to seriously doubting that daughter #10 has a chance to go on a spa-day(mall-date/movie/etc) with Mommy Duggar.
Also yeah, stop thinking that this is a "God's plan". I feel like if God actually wanted all of us to be breeding factories, he wouldn't have made us smart enough to figure out birth control and instead of one child he'd have had us churn out litter by litter. Most people could have an obscene amount of kids--and used to, if only because half of them would die out because lack of medicine.
@lizardsjade - I'm sorry, it's the truth. There is nothing miraculous or supernatural about pregnancy. It's the result of sperm meeting egg and nothing more. There's nothing divine about it. It's really just a biological function and nothing more. So-called "God" (assuming said entity exists in the first place, which is a bold assertion to begin with) has nothing to do with the fusion of sperm and egg.
Quite frankly no I don't know what it's like because 1) I'm male, and 2) as far as I'm concerned kids are nothing but money-draining sniveling brats and I refuse to have any part of ever being a parent (biological or adopted). Ugh, kids. Gag me with a spoon.
About Me: It's not about surviving. It should be about love. When you know love...that's what makes this life worth it. When you live with it everyday. Wake up with it, hold on to it during the thunder and after a nightmare. When love is your refuge from the death that surrounds us all and when it fills you so tight that you can't express it.
