I seriously thought this was a joke, then I saw the recommended video that followed this one. Going to go throw up now.

In case YouTube recommends different videos to other people, see here for the one it recommended me after. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjHaNCre6do&feature=player_embedded#at=140

Why not? We have just about every other kind of bible. I wouldn't want one but I'm sure someone will be buying it. I've read through the bible several times and never noticed the USA referred to at all though, I wonder how they get round that one?

I'm holding out for the Namibian Patriot's Bible.

  • MCTCanadian@xanga

I just think they threw up all over the constitution

  • Katja88@xanga

I know a few people who would be all about this (excluding American Dad, who probably would want one).  It's a nice thought; I mean, if I can have my Bible study focusing on, say, theology and the Simpsons, they ought to be able to have theirs.

It might be interesting to read if the content is valuable.

The notes are not more important than the Bible so if this is all someone is reading, they may not be getting the rest of the Bible but this is better than nothing.

I'll quote my wife "I didn't know there was a patriots Bible".... there's just two options: the Word of God, or Lies.

  • TheBlueNinjaTiger@xanga

@TravelingStranger@xanga - nay, theres a third: a disordering of God's word. Perhaps this "bible" has all actual correct versus but jumbled up incoherently and interpreted poorly in a manner that God didn't intend. "Word of God, Lies, or a confusing mess of truth and lies"

  • Lovegrove@xanga

I'm no longer a bible reader but even I felt offended by this. Maybe it is the residual of my studies. "Only in America"really seems to apply here for once. Jesus! You've got some dumb-arse dick-heads in that asylum. I don't mean those producing this montrosity, they are but jackals sniffing at a lucrative pile of carrion in the true spirit of capitalism. I mean the carrion and there does appear to be a lot of it. What's wrong with them?

I did a whole post on this nearly 2 years ago entitled "Designer Bibles: What good comes out of forcing the text?"  Here's the link with it's thought provoking assessment

I have likewise stated for years that "The american flag does not belong draped on Christ's cross.  The two are mutually incompatible.  God's kingdom does not exalt any nation, tribe or government above any other but labels them all as God's pawns and tools in bringing about his own aims and purposes.  The only "kingdom" that is eternal is the one written on the hearts of those adopted into the Family of God."  Thus I would have to say that I am not patriotic in any sense... for I seek a kingdom and a city that is not of this world. (Hebrews 11)

When are we gonna get it through our thick heads.  Christ wasn't an American.

  • JerusalemHill@xanga

No, Thanks, but I can highlight, pick and choose my own favorite verses on any particular day in my Plain Vanilla Christian Bibles.

A true patriot?  One who agrees and acts in accordance with:  "We hold these truths to be self- evident, that all men are created equal and are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, among them being life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness!"  Show me a greedy, filthy-rich son-of-a-bitch manipulating the price of gas, meddling with mortgage rates, fudging the books of his hedge fund, screwing the ignorant out of the little he has any-which-way-he-can, bitching about the cost of government help for the underdogs, etc.,  and I'll show you who ain't a true patriot, Bible-thumping or otherwise!
