Who is God to You?
By Samuel Le
Ah, Sovereign LORD, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you - Jeremiah 32:17J.B. Phillips wrote a book called Your God is Too Small, in which he exposes the caricatures of God that people have created for themselves. Many people have a God of their own making -- not the God the Bible reveals. The result is that people have a false sense of the God they worship and ultimately, a false sense of what is expected of their lives.
The sad truth for many modern Christians is this how we "know" God. We pick up bits and pieces here and there from this sermon or that commentary. We think that if we can learn the true greatness and character of God through Twitter feeds. We justify it because our lives are so busy! We just got so much to do and not enough time to do it.
And this fine when life is going well. The God we have created in our minds serves us well when our family is loving, when that job promotion is on the horizon, and when we are healthy. But when troubles start brewing within the family or we've just lost our job, not only lives seem to crumble around us, but the our God seem so powerless. What happened to the God that was suppose to be my good-luck charm?
My friends, when we don't take the time to get to know our awesome and wonderful God through His Word, the Bible, we start to make-up expectations and demands for God. And when these expectations don't play out as we hope, we get disappointed. So I encourage you today to spend time to get to know this God that you worship. Stop depending upon blurbs that you hear from off the street. Engage in His Word and He will surely reveal Himself to you.
Who is God to you? How do you know that what you believe about God is true? What has He been teaching you about His characteristics lately? How do you respond?

A cute idea.
Thanks. Check my blog out at samueltle.blogspot.com for more of my thoughts. You can also follow me on there too!
God is my Heavenly Father - the Father of my spirit and the creator of my body. He is also the Father of Jesus Christ, my Savior and Redeemer.
I know that what I believe about God is true because He tells me so. When I first read the Bible as a teenager, He taught me to recognize His voice and the whisperings of the Holy Spirit. Now I know that whatever They testify to me is true. He has told me that I am His child and can become like Him through the Atonement of Jesus.
He has taught me lately that I should keep the Lord's Day more holy and that He will bless me for doing so. He has also reminded me that He will reveal to me His will as often as I prepare myself to receive it and am sincere in following it. The Bible is the beginning of God's truth, but not the end of it. He is Eternal and so is His word. It goes on and on forever.
I know for sure that in order to know God and grow in our knowledge of Him, we must read His Word. Every time I open up my Bible I learn something new, making me feel that much closer to Him, which is exactly what should happen! I'm 16 and sometimes it is difficult to wrap my head around the fact that He created absolutely everything and yet He still has time to love and care about me. I've learned not to blame my problems on Him because He always gives me a way out; in addition to this, I've learned that everything that happens to me is just a part of His plan for my life.
I've been reading The Grace of God by Andy Stanley (amazing book!) and I've come to realize that God's grace has no limits. He wants us to be happy and satisfied in Him and sometimes all we need is a good old reality check to remind us who He is...often times, they are situations that we'd consider terrible. Like Jonah being stuck in a whale for three days.
Anyway, I see God as someone who deserves all my respect (plus a little extra...) but is also my best Friend and perfect Father; someone who I can talk to and laugh with almost the same way I would with a peer (:
:D
God is forgiving and righteous.
He has shown me a way, Jesus.
And Jesus is helping me to rely on Him with my whole life, every detail.
I'm learning to trust in Him.
He is love,
when I felt lonely I prayed and felt like someone (He!) was there with me.
He is a place of safety!
He is everything I need.
When others may not understand me (or I just don't think so), I know He does.
I'm also learning that when I write things down, share my faith/stories with others, I need to remind myself of the same things always, cause I end up forgetting at times. If I am constantly dwelling in Him, I can serve Him more.
I remember i had a bad dream that I literally could not wake up from and I tried to. The only way I was able to wake up was because I prayed to Jesus for help!
The other day I was getting cat hair (I have a kitty, yes hehe) off me and I blew it off. Some of the cat hair formed a cross!
There are many things I can keep saying...I'm still learning tons.
I think we all will always be learning from Him!
Actually thinking over my life, the there are things i'm remembering that help me realize who I am and who He is!
More recent wonderful blessings! I have a new family member. ^_^
It really is a blessing for my family. One of my other family members needed surgery but the seriousness of it lessened because God healed them. I am learning all the blessings I really have!!!
