  • God Will Make a Way For You

“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from the words of my groaning?” (Psalm 22:1)

I have shared the grief of David over the past few months. It has been as though God was no longer in my life - not because He has forsaken me, but because I have forsaken Him.  I allowed the dark cloud of ego to get in the way, blocking His radiant love.  I have, upon realizing this, attempted in vain to set things right on my own.  But I was weak, I needed rest and I could no longer find peace or joy.

I looked back on the days when God's presence was with me and started to miss the blessings of grace.  My mind was in constant turmoil, crying out day after day, night after night.  It really seemed like I had been forsaken.

“From birth I was cast upon you; from my mother’s womb, you have been my God.”
    (Psalm 22:10)

Yet He has not forsaken me - and He never had! I have learned, in my few years following Christ, that the Father has His own way of leading me through the wilderness.  He allows me to wander for however long I want to do so in my chosen direction so that I may realize that the path before me leads to spiritual death and hopelessness.  It is only then that He will step in and show me the way!

God rebuilds our lives miraculously.  For each one of us, He tailors a unique plan of salvation that will bring us back into His grace again - no matter how many times we have (and will continue to) fail Him.  As the words of the hymn below remind us, God will always make a way for us.

    God will make a way,
Where there seems to be no way
He works in ways we cannot see
He will make a way for me
    He will be my guide
Hold me closely to His side
With love and strength for each new day
He will make a way, He will make a way.

By a roadway in the wilderness, He'll lead me
And rivers in the desert will I see
    Heaven and earth will fade
But His Word will still remain
He will do something new today.

    God will make a way,

Where there seems to be no way
He works in ways we cannot see
He will make a way for me
    He will be my guide
Hold me closely to His side
With love and strength for each new day
He will make a way, He will make a way

Have you ever felt forsaken by God? Have you ever forsaken Him to try to do things your way?
