  • Efficiency: How God Can Help You Achieve It

“In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” (Proverbs 3:6 KJV)

Efficiency! It is the one word that drives so much in our world today.

In the back of our minds, the formula that speed equals distance divided by time creates a template for so much of what we do. The less time we spend doing something, the faster we are getting through it. Whether that involves getting an assistant or using a new technology, we love to see things that used to be so complicated become so easy and simple.

Yet in the verse above, the term “direct” literally means to be straight. God's formula does not care so much about time as it does straightening the path. This effectively shortens the distance.

We can scurry all over creation trying to accomplish great works that we think will ultimately bring great progress and efficiency, or we can wait on the Lord that He might direct us in a straight path.

“Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.” (Psalms 27:14 KJV)

Do you spend a lot of time applying more "efficient" methods to your life? Have you allowed the Lord to direct your paths or are you succumbing to the world's push for efficiency?
