  • The Ark of the Covenant Found, With Jesus' Blood?

    When I saw the post about the possible discovery of Noah's Ark I was reminded of this story.

    Ron Wyatt claims to have found the Ark of the Covenant, underneath Golgotha, and blood that was spilled onto the Mercy Seat. In this video he talks about how he had the blood analyzed and the miraculous results the specialists gave him.

    More information is available here.

    From every stormy wind that blows,
    From every swelling tide of woes,
    There is a calm, a sure retreat;
    ’Tis found beneath the mercy seat.

    There is a place where Jesus sheds
    The oil of gladness on our heads;
    A place than all besides more sweet;
    It is the blood bought mercy seat.

    There is a scene where spirits blend,
    Where friend holds fellowship with friend;
    Though sundered far, by faith they meet
    Around one common mercy seat.

    There, there, on eagles’ wings we soar,
    And time and sense seem all no more;
    And heaven comes down, our souls to greet,
    And glory crowns the mercy seat.

    Oh, let my hand forget her skill,
    My tongue be silent, cold, and still,
    This bounding heart forget to beat,
    If I forget the mercy seat!

    "From Every Stormy Wind" by Hugh Stowell

    What do you think? Could this possibly be the actual blood of Jesus?

    I'm doubting this. Not because I'm a skeptic, it's just a big thing. And no matter how much it could be proven scientifically, many will never believe in Jesus. Sad, but true.

  • too_pretty_to_die@xanga

    the man had no formal archaeological training and has been widely discredited by the scholarly community.  he's a Christian fundie Indiana Jones wannabe, and i wouldn't believe him if he told me the sky is blue.

    how can anyone prove any DNA is Jesus when they do not have DNA from Jesus or his parents to compare it to?

  • rusty0505@xanga

    well, considering the True Ark of the Covenant is Jesus' mother... this really doesn't matter too much anyway. if you're looking for some real science to back up religion, there are a few key studies that support the idea that the consecrated host is actually heart muscle. amazing and fascinating stuff! if you want some links to the resources, please ask me.

    @squanto_07@xanga - in these videos i've referenced above, the science proves the blood associated in the cases IS human DNA, yet with no matches to anyone in any database. while that by no means indicates that it's God's DNA... the details further indicate that the cases are linked, yet are isolated enough that they really couldn't be fraudulent.

    I don't think Jesus is interested in proving himself with DNA discoveries or bread turned to heart muscle. God's Word is His testimony, and people will either believe it or not. As Abraham said to the rich man in Hades, "If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead." (or if Jesus' DNA is discovered, and @squanto_07@xanga - is exactly right)

    I don't really think this is legit, and as @CitizenDon@xanga said, even if it is it will never be enough to convince some people. People disbelieve because they want to disbelieve, not due to lack of evidence. Paul stated it best in Romans 1.

    For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.

    I doubt that this is true. But, even if it is, it won't matter, because you can't make people believe who don't want to believe.

    Ron Wyatt was known to have made up or distorted a number of his "discoveries." I ran into an Ark of the Covenant report on his daughter's blog a few years ago, and it was quite implausible: no photos, just drawings; no corroborating news reports on what would have been the greatest archeological discovery of all time; analyzable 2000-year-old bloodstains... Ridiculous.

  • Theophilus166@xanga

    he even dresses like Indiana Jones.

  • Babylons_Crowing@xanga

    @rusty0505@xanga - I would very much like to see said studies.

    Where do these people get funding for this stuff?

  • Rev222@xanga

    The church claimed to have many equally holy relics back in the 16th century, including thorns from crown of thorns that adorned Jesus head when he was crucified to milk from the virgin's breast. The good news is that we do not need relics to validate our faith or serve as some sort of proof that Christ lives. As the resurrected savior declared to the apostle Thomas, who refused to believe without seeing the marks of the nails and piercing from the spear in Jesus side, "Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe."

  • Red_Apocalypse_Horse@xanga

    Ron Wyatt is a hoax. There's no such thing as "fantastic archaelogy" (Indiana Jones style) in the real world.

    If it were real, the discovery of the Ark of the Covenant would be the greatest discovery of this age. Perhaps God allowed the relic to be lost in history for good reason since Christ IS the very embodiment of God himself in the flesh, ushering in the new covenant; hence making the original ark obsolete.
    But again, it may have already been discovered, but the truth remained hidden due to the obvious religious and political ramifications in the volatile Middle East.

    Even his website looks sketchy.  Man, that guy does not know how to use commas!

  • xSaYiTLoUdx@xanga

    if he touches the ark and dies like uzzah, then i'll consider it.

  • vwxya@xanga

    This is too hilarious. I'm posting it on my facebook.

    DID ANYBODY SEE HIM FLASH THE HORN SYMBOL @ THE BEGINING OF THE VIDEO...... I SMELL A HOAX!!!!!!

  • anonymous

    Last week I contacted Wyatt's ministry where they sell his videos still.  I asked for verifiable proof such as: pictures of the crack in the post hole, copies of the permission to dig from Israle Antiquities, copies of the blood report.  They are unable to provide these and say they are not available.  Right there is proof this is made up, hogwash and a great hoax.  Simple requests like that and they are unwilling to provide it.  Don't believe everything you hear.

  • josephineg

    no one really knows if this is Jesus' blood, but the Pharisees thought that the Messiah would reveal himself in some magnificent way... a lot of people denied Jesus after he gave them proof. If you are so scientifically you know that a human being has to have more than 24 chromosomes to live! if it's not the blood of our saviour than what is it? I just wanna know a lot of you are claiming false but what do you think it could be?

    @xSaYiTLoUdx@xanga - Ron is dead. He died a few years back from cancer. If you can't wrap your mind around this one, check this one out - it WILL blow your mind! http://www.arkdiscovery.com/sodom_&_gomorrah.htm
