Do You Play Violent Video Games?
Have a question you want us to ask? Send it to us!
There are so many video games on the market, and many of the most popular ones involve shooting and violence. Violence in video games has long been considered improper for children, but what about Christians? Clearly the Bible doesn't say anything about video games, but perhaps it can at least shed some light on whether or not being exposed to violence is wrong.
Do you play violent video games?

I do, I imagine the bad guys are all atheists, pagans, and homosexuals! j/k
Seriously though, I did when I was younger and before I became a Christian, I don't so much any more. Mostly just due to growing up and a lack of the free time to do so. I do stay away from games like Grand Theft Auto and others that have rather questionable content. If I wanted pornography I would look for it, I don't need it in a video game. But, the violence in and of itself isn't a problem, as it's not real.
I don't know. I don't really play video games. The only games I have on my computer are the original "Sims" and "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?"
No violent games for me.
I have played violent video games, but I don't play them frequently. I've not always seen them as terrible, but I can also see why they might be construed as inappropriate or a bad influence.
@MagisterTom@xanga - hahaha
I played Pac-man and I still have nightmares about those ghost thingy's chasing me around a maze.
If only I had read Philippians 4:8 first...
The Bible contains inordinate amounts of graphic violence.
That having been said, I don't play violent video games only because I don't play video games at all; not my thing.
As it's been mentioned... the Bible is full of violence. BUT, that's kinda besides the point.
Yes, I do play violent video games. I don't see a whole lot of difference between playing those games and watching movies with violence or reading books with violence. I don't allow myself to be influenced by them, but I do play them because I find the challenge enjoyable.
I don't play those games (but I don't really play many games to begin with). I don't find them beneficial to our discipleship but rather damaging.
I play them fairly often and generally enjoy them. It helps me ward off those pesky pacifist tendencies.
I'll play them if they're about killing zombies. Zombies and vampires need to be given their peaceful rest too right?
I believe you might find the web site videogames.procon.org an interesting read. There you can read arguments on both sides of the question "Do Violent Video Games Contribute to Youth Violence?"
I play violent video games. I was playing MadWorld the other day...it was great...!
I play violent video games all the time.
trust me, when those guys out in the desert put the bible together, they never imagined video games, movies, or any form of entertainment that would glorify violence.
