  • 'Twas The Dark Knight Before Christmas

By Aaron at Faith and Geekery

The list of people who don’t jive well with Christmas is short, but it exists. Ebenezer Scrooge. The Grinch. This crazy person from Ohio. And now Batman.

This video has been on the web for a couple of years now, but I only just saw it today for the first time, and I’m sure it will be new to a few other people as well. It was created by YouTube user ItsJustSomeRandomGuy, who has gotten some fairly widespread recognition for his “animated” videos featuring action figures of comic book characters.

In this video, a coal-hearted Batman refuses yet again to celebrate (or even barely recognize) Christmas. Narrated by trusty butler Alfred using the original “A Visit from St. Nicholas” (also known as “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas”) as inspiration, we see an unexpected guest visit Batman and attempt to explain to him the reason behind why we give — and receive — gifts at Christmas.

Although lacking in theological content and missing (as do most Christmas specials) the Christ-centered reason behind Christmas and the celebration of some of its traditions, “‘Twas The Dark Knight Before Christmas” does have something good to say, even if it is couched in silliness and low production values.
