Can I just say that God is extremely funny? He's hilarious! If all the sarcasm and irony in the Prophets were not enough to convince me, He had to show me Himself.
I'm in my junior year in college, and I encountered the most difficult semester of my life. This semester has been crazy! I haven't taken any more units than usual, but just the things going on in my life combined with all the school work has been too much. So, naturally, I needed a break. I needed time to just relax and not do anything. For those of you who don't know me, not doing anything is not my area of expertise. I always have something to do and always find a way to keep busy.
About a month ago, a friend who has quite a similar personality to mine became pretty sick. She was stuck in bed, and, much to her dislike, was forced to rest. Ding, ding, ding! I had an idea! If I got sick, then I would have to be stay home and be forced to rest! I thought this was a grand idea, and was hoping to catch something from someone. It would give me a nice break in the middle of the semester, whether I liked it or not.
Well, now I have one more week to the end of the semester, then it's finals week. Guess what? I'm sick. I have a stuffy nose, sore throat, slight fever that comes and goes, body ache, and completely no energy. I got sick at the time that I absolutely cannot get sick! I have so many assignments to finish up and a few finals to study for. If I don't, then I won't pass. If I were to get sick in the middle of the semester, at least I wouldn't have any major assignments to turn in. But at the end?
So, friends, this is why I think God is funny. He gave me what I wanted. He allowed me to be sick. Yet He did it in a way to show me how stupid my request even was. He was like, "You want to be sick, huh? Okay. Here you go." And so, as I try to quickly rest off my sickness, I realize to just be diligent in the tasks that are set before me. Don't try to look for an "easy way out." Just be faithful and endure til the end.
Has there ever been a time when you have tried to find an easy way out, but it blew up in your face like it has in mine? What are some other ways you have experienced God's sense of humor?

lol! I love God's funny ways.. I can't even start all the stories in my life.. Thanks for sharing!
I think it's funny how you think god really cares about your day to day life. He's probably off creating new universes and fighting with other gods. Why would he care about something as insignificant as a single human life.
God's will is done inspite of our own human willfulness. You willed sickness on yourself. That is why you got sick.
God has blessed your life with untold good fortune and you respond with self-sabotage.
I get in trouble continually for saying this, but there is a huge difference between mental illness and God.
LOL. Be careful of what you wish for!
Someone who has apparently never found irony in their life.
New low, Revelife?
@Pcgecko85@xanga - Why would he care about something as insignificant as a single human life.
This is a very interesting question. The Christian believes that God creates out of love. Human beings mirror this love in the things that they create. Artists of all sorts care deeply about what they create, for example.
Understanding that God is infinite also means understanding that God's capacity to care is infinite.
So it is very reasonable to conclude that God cares deeply about everything he creates including individual people, animals, electrons and quarks.

Why would he care about something as insignificant as a single human life. That's actually a great question. Why would he care about us? Or, better yet, why does he care? And that's the beauty of it. That's what makes him so great. We are not worthy of his love and care, yet he gives it us. Go figure...
@CyanideNGunpowder@xanga - new low?
Is that supposed to mean if I am new? Lol. I guess if it does, then I just answered your questions by my ignorance :)I remember many years ago when I wanted to quit smoking. I knew that whenever I was sick, it was much easier to not smoke. So I did a very stupid thing: I asked God to allow me to get sick so I could quit smoking. Nothing happened for 3 days.... until.... I initiated an attempt to quit on a Sunday morning. I had a few that afternoon, but none that am. Monday went to work as usual, but did not start my day with a smoke. Then it happened. I started getting sick; really sick; sicker than I have ever been before in my life sick; so sick someone had to drive me home, because I couldn't drive sick.
I was sicker than I have EVER been in all my life, and did not care whether I needed a cigarette or not. After 3 days, I finally became better. I have never had a smoke since.
I also am more careful about what I ask God for...
