Every once in a while I am searching the internet I find a website or in this case to that cause me to be slightly irritated. While I was searching the net I found these two websites:
Reserve a Spot in Hell, and
Reserve a Spot in Heaven. I realize it is a gag gift, but eternity is not something to joke about; you might consider me over reacting or closed-minded, but I don't care. The choice about your eternal destiny really is not about the choice between heaven and hell. It's a matter of understanding YHVH. It's about understanding your relationship with your creator. It's about the fact that you, me, and every person on this earth is a sinner. It does not matter if we believe that we have sinned; the simple fact is we have sinned. It is impossible for any person on earth to not have sinned. YHVH abhors sin. YHVH hates sin. It is our sin that seperates us from YHVH.
For us the the cost of our sin is death -- and then judgment, then the wrath of the almighty YHVH, but YHVH loves the sinner. YHVH loves the sinner so much that He chose to come to earth in the form of the perfect, sinless Yeshua Hamachiac to suffer a death that each and everyone of us deserve. Yeshua sacrificed His life for us so that there could be a way -- the only way -- for us to be viewed in YHVH's eye as if we never commited a sin.
What does it cost us?
Nothing -- we just have to believe in our hearts and confess by our mouths that we know that we are sinful people who deserve the punishment of death and that we believe in Yeshua, who laid down His life willing died and rose from the dead so that we could have an unblocked relationship with YHVH.
The future of out eternity is not about heaven or hell; it is about our relationship with YHVH. Heaven and hell are the fruits of our decision, the consequences of our actions.
In the end, our eternity is a serious matter -- not a gag gift!
Do you take the idea of eternity seriously?

Great post, Barry.
Eternity and outside of time existence are difficult concepts to grasp. Though recently thanks to string theory the concept of an existence outside of time was mathmatically proven (Or at least the posiblity was shown to be correct) the idea was first mentioned in scripture.
It's always interesting when modern secular dogma is forced to agree with scripture. After all they try so very hard to keep that from happening.
I take it very seriously. We must be serious about it because it is serious, and we know it. Some people may not want to believe or and to justify their reasons for not taking it serious; my old nneighbor used to tell me that she believes, but the idea of being somewhere eternaly is hard to grasp. This is true I guess, but when you think about Heaven and how great it is told, any person capable of reasoning should or ought to rejoice in the idea of living like that however far or soon. The fact is that when events happen, you do start to think about the bigger picture, or thinking more in depth about it. When all is said and done, it doesn't matter how we feel of what happens in our worldly life; everyone should consider that their soul is at stake! How could anyone ever not regard this issue as serious?
personally, i prefer the site where you can hire a non-believer to watch your pets for you after the Rapture. i need to get listed and offer my services. poor little things...
also, if it's about a relationship with God... for the love of Him, STOP telling people they're going to Hell. people will believe that that's what it's all about as long as you keep portraying it that way. not everyone thinks as little of humanity as you do. i certainly don't.
yes
There's really nothing to understand since no one knows anything. And no, I'm not worried about eternity.
@nidan@xanga - It takes quite a bit of liberal interpretation of both quantum physics and ancient scripture to say they agree with each other.
Also, what "modern secular dogma" are you referring to, and why would you call it that?
I do, but it's not just about possessing a "get outta Hell free card" it is so much more, thanks for saying the MORE part ;)
@When_We_Were_Both_Cats@xanga - I don't really care wich extreme you subscribe to, but I'll pass on your baiting.
Actually, many (even amongst Christians) think of the afterlife in terms of spiritual, other-worldly abodes (like Heaven and Hell). I'm not denying that these places really do exist, but I feel we often miss the point.
The end result is that we'll be resurrected physically (not just spiritually), and attain immortal bodies like Jesus' resurrected glorified body. There will be a new heaven and earth, and we, in our glorified bodies will occupy it.
And yes, God himself will dwell amongst us and that is why we need to prepare ourselves here now for eternity. That means having a relationship with God. That means telling others about Him, and what Jesus did for us, and how to restore our relationship with God. Rick Warren said that the purpose of life is to prepare for eternity. I think that pretty much sums it up.
Ah yes, another post from the BarryDadof3/KristinMomof3 duo, which insists you use the magic words of YHWH, Yashua, Yahweh, etc.etc.,ad nauseum or you are going to hell! God won't hear you or listen to you unless you address Him correctly. Funny, I respond to brother, son, Dad, husband, Officer, etc., and those people know exactly who they are talking to....and I am just one puny human. But unless you're a Messianic Jew, or Orthodox, or whatever, you are going to hell! Unless you do it exactly like Barry and Kristin, you are going to hell for all eternity!
Funny, one of the theives who hung on the cross with Jesus asked Him to "remember me in your Kingdom" and Jesus told him "truly I tell you today, you will be with me in paradise"...Um, what religion was the thief? Did he use the right name when addressing Jesus, or did he just look up from his torment and ask to be remembered? Funny how God is able to hear us, love us, know us, regardless of what term we use. But after all, He created us!
Good bait, this post. Eternity means eternity. Never ending. Beyond our comprehension. Maybe God's timespans are a little different than ours. Maybe to God 100 years are but a second. or maybe when He created the Earth and the heavens, etc in 7 days, each "day" was a million (or billion, whatever) years....
Yes, we are all sinners. Let's remind ourselves of that once again. We all deserve to die, that's what God created us for, so He could watch us fall over the cliff like lemmings unless we use the magic words. Lets all flagellate ourselves once again for being such wretched miserable creations. Let's all cast our eyes upon the newborn laying in her crib, and know that our loving God has no problem with burning that baby to ashes in the never ending fires of Hell because that baby has sinned, isn't perfect, cannot have any relation with God because He IS perfect, and will have no chance of redemption until she is old enough to understand how horrible she is, and how much she needs the redeeming power of God's Grace. (How's that for a run-on sentence?) But only if she calls out to Him with the right magic names! Otherwise she is going to eternity in the fires of Hell, to be tormented forever because she didn't use YHWH, or Yashua, El, Elohim, or whatever you think is the correct term this week.
How belittling of you to think that the Creator God is that petty and shallow. Thankfully, the God I worship and love is far wiser, kinder, loving and forgiving than that, and has a plan for me, my loved ones, and all mankind that is far greater and more wonderful than I could even comprehend.
@nidan@xanga - All I was asking that you be more clear, for both statements were pretty vague (they'd have to be, really).
I would have reacted the same way. It's not something to joke about; no way.
