F My Life is a popular website I imagine most of us are familiar with. It's a form of microblogging, where you write a very short story about why your life is awful, and post it. Every post ends with the acronym FML.
Of course there are knockoffs. Lovemylife.com just inverts the formula. I really appreciate
My Life Is Average. It's a collection of average (but generally upbeat) stories. Here is an example:
Today, I asked my three year-old cousin what she wanted to be for Halloween. Expecting to hear something like a princess, I was shocked when she told me that she wanted to be a ceiling fan. Favorite cousin ever. MLIA
But my new favorite is
Makes Me Think, which features stories always beginning Today..., and always ending. "Makes me think." Who doesn't enjoy thought-provoking stories? The top-rated story presently is this one:
Today in downtown San Diego, I watched a blue collar Mexican man get harassed for being Mexican. It was a blatant act of discrimination. And the man actually began crying. As he left the office building, he took off his jacket. His t-shirt underneath read, "I love the USA!" MMT
It does make you think. So check out the site. Think a bit. Post your favorite MMT here.

Today Revelife featured a post that was about nothing except microblogging. MMT.
The story from the Makes Me Think site breaks my heart because it reminds me of how my father loves this country so much, but he probably gets seen as a freak since he's Latino. That depresses me more than an FML entry ever could.
Today I went to worship and saw a man who had mentioned 2 weeks earlier that he wasn't overly excited about his new baby. It felt good knowing others don't get enthusiastic about loved ones at times. His wife was next to him holding his baby today and I've never seen him smile so big. MMT.
And this has exactly what connection with the Gospel of Jesus Christ?
REVELIFE YOU ARE SUCKING HIND TIT ON THIS ONE!!
@salvatruca_stalking_havok13@xanga - that saddened me too. reminded me on when my dad was harassed after 9/11.
"Today I realized that I went from being really depressed six months ago, to loving a lot of things about my life. The only difference between then and now is that I consciously let go of some things I had been holding onto. MMT"
@LoBornlyte@xanga - Because the site evokes a sense of purpose in helping others. It gives people hope.
90% of all the entries on FML.com are probably fake anyway...so chances are, a lot of entires on the other sites you mentioned are probably made up as well. MMT.
@HippocreneQueen@xanga - Because the site evokes a sense of purpose in helping others. It gives people hope.
A problem that people with emotional problems have is placing hope in the wrong things. Revelife is about the hope of Jesus Christ not the hope of dubious Internet psychotherapy.
If all you need to feel better is to read FML or MMT than maybe your problems are not so gruesome.
Aside from Revelife sucking hind tit on this one, OP Baldy (my affectionate nick name for Nick) appears to be using Revelife to build traffic to his own Xanga site.
A bit whorish to say the least.
Well not today, but two days ago I walked past a bar at 8:30am and saw it was full of customers doing shots and drinking beer. Who gets up early to get drunk at a bar? Were they about to go drive buses or build structures? MMT.
@LoBornlyte@xanga - You know, you shouldn't go posting comments on the internet without first taking your meds.
@salvatruca_stalking_havok13@xanga - That makes me sad.
I'm so sorry.
@HippocreneQueen@xanga - That's a nice one.
To OP - I will start reading MMT, I think. I can't stand FML. I might read the others, too.
this site's pretty cool. Though while reading through them I found this one and wasn't sure what to think.
Today
my best friend, Amy, confided in me and told me what she called her
"deepest secret". She said, "My mom was raped when she was 23 and got
pregnant. She decided to keep the baby. She named the baby, 'Amy.'" MMT
I don't know if this Amy girl is ever going to read this, but if I was her and I found it, I think I'd be pissed. Not that anyone would really know which Amy it is, but the fact that the friend I confided in posted my deepest secret online is kind of not cool. I don't know. Does anyone else think that was the wrong thing to do?
@LoBornlyte@xanga - I agree... this post hasn't exactly inspired me to live a better life... lol...
in opposition to FML, TGFL = thank God for life
@crevis05@xanga - I don't think Revelife is under any real obligation to ensure that every post inspires you to live a better life. If so, they do a terrible job at it. I think it's healthy to have fun entries from time to time. That's part of community, the little stuff. Talking about the Gospel is great but talking about life in general is good too.
@subSacred@xanga - That was you that walked by? I should have waved.
just kidding. :)
@LoBornlyte@xanga - But through reading stories of hope, people can see the works of Jesus through people are still present today. It gives them hope that God and Jesus do exist and may inspire them to change the lives of others through kindness.
"If all you need to feel better is to read FML or MMT than maybe your problems are not so gruesome."
You shouldn't go around saying their problems aren't so bad. If you read anything on the MMT site, you would see that some of them had rough lives but it was the little things that cheered them up and made them think. You can't measure how much pain someone is in.
@LoBornlyte@xanga - And this comment has exactly what to do with the gospel of Jesus Christ?
@LoBornlyte@xanga - You seem to be about the most pathetic, hypocritical excuse for a Christian I've ever seen, but your excessive, vitriolic comments do make me laugh.
@LoBornlyte@xanga - "Jesus replied: 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'" (Matthew 22:37)
As in, the part that.... Makes me think!
thanks so much for wasting several hours of my life. :)
i thoroughly enjoy this mlia: I bought a pair of black "nerd glasses". I decided to wear them around my college campus. A guy wearing a button down shirt and "nerd glasses" ran up to me screaming "Lois Lane where have you been? I've looked all over for you!" He then took off his glasses and unbuttoned his shirt revealing a superman t-shirt underneath. Needless to say Lois Lane and Clark Kent are going out on friday night. MLIAand this mmt:Today, a blind stranger told me he could hear the song in my smile. MMT@ChrisRusso@xanga - @Pass_the_Aura@xanga - Hey sorry guys. I have this little thing I do to let off steam before I post a comment.
It is my wish to be very civil and polite in real life. So I just get my ya-ya's out before I present a post. This time I really messed up.
I am heartly sorry and embarrassed. Please forgive me.

@fallingraindrop@xanga - Of course.
