“Without writing a novel at this point, I'll just say that I'm starting to think that I might actually be a songwriter, musician or artist of some kind... So, maybe I should do something about it?” With these words, and
a few more, Jennifer Knapp has announced her return to the music scene.
Knapp took Christian music by storm in 1998 with her hit single, “Undo Me”, off the album
Kansas, which went Gold. She signed to Gotee Records, where she released two more albums, Lay it Down in 2000 and The Way I Am in 2001. A few years and several successful tours later, Knapp decided to take a break from music, citing the pressure of writing fresh material and promoting albums as reasons for the break.
She never came back, leaving fans to speculate as to why she would so abruptly end her career and to wonder if she would ever come back. To fulfill her record contract, Gotee Records released two compilation albums, Jennifer Knapp: The Collection in 2003 and Jennifer Knapp: Live in 2006. It seemed, at least for a time, that these were the final chapter in her story.
Not so. “We've been flooded with emails and phone calls simply by putting up a humble little homepage,” muses Knapp in
a letter to her fans currently posted on her website. “So much for my little holiday. It's looking very much like it may be over.” In the short period of time since Patrol Magazine
announced in August that
her management confirmed she was writing music again, this letter has appeared on her site, as well as a few tour dates and a new song on her Myspace profile. The song, “Letting Go”, is a much more mature Jennifer Knapp, and if this is just a glimpse at what her future project will be like, it's definitely going to be an album to look into.

The CCM scene is so barren now, I'm sure this is big news.
I love, love, love no less than 8 of Knapp's songs. ("A Little More" is is my "My Funeral Songs" file
) The guitar chords on that song (not to mention the awesome words and melody and harmony) are some of the best chords ever.
Can't wait to hear what she comes up with!
Apparently T-Bone Burnett, Sam Phillips, Bruce Cockburn, Pierce Pettis, and several other mainstream Christian musicians are still alive and kicking, although I don't hear much about them. Maybe I should pick something up from Amazon.
I miss Rich Mullins, Mark Heard, Larry Norman.
You know who I miss? Miss Angie. Does anyone know what happened to her? She was like Superchick, but even poppier, if that's possible!
@modernmelody - haha I haven't heard that name in years.
@Theophilus166@xanga - Am I showing my age? I haven't either, and there's not even a Wikipedia article for her!
Check it out, so I found a myspace page for her:

She looks so different! But the music is still good!
YAY!! <3 Jennifer knapp...this is exciting
Jennifer Knapp has a voice that is full of emotion and sometimes haunting. My favorite is her song "Breathe On Me." I think she also was featured on a Grits song "Believe" where her soul-ful sound contrasted Grits' rap but added so much to the song. I think she is really talented, which is why I'm really looking forward to her return.
I love her song "Breathe On Me." I'd like to hear whatever she creates now!
Jeniffer Knapp that's a name i have not heard in over 10 years. She's amazing, she used to perform at my college every once in a while. Undo Me is an awesome track.
p
I love Jennifer Knapp. Her writing is reflective and deep.
