The last few years Muslims have become very active on the Internet. The lack of tools for Muslims to be able to continue their online activities responsibly has inspired
ImHalal.com to enter the search engine market.
Potential Muslim internet users who might previously have avoided the internet for some of its less wholesome content, now have a safe option in the new search engine Imhalal.com.
While internet use has increased steadily in the Middle East and North Africa over the last few of years, many potential users have stayed away due to religious concerns over the content. The search engine will not return results considered haram, forbidden, and only show results that are demand halal, approved, under Muslim religious law.
Sardeha has high hopes and more plans for the future. "In one month's time we hope to add Islamic widgets such as prayer time so that you can easily find out when to pray or when you come to the website you will see a quote from the Qur'an. We are marketing Imhalal as a social homepage for Muslim households" He said.
"Imhalal is not a dictatorial or censorship website, we want people to be able to continue their online search," commented Sardeha.
The search engine uses 'various techniques' to determine which results are Halal (acceptable) or Haraam (forbidden).
What are your thoughts on this?

More power to the Islamic community and I hope it will help those who don't already take part in the use of the internet to strengthen their ability to be a more productive member of the world society and utilize the vast knowledge currently available on the net to better themselves, their standings and the world in whole.
Gee, maybe Revelife will start posting the Dow and other major stock averages. Hey! And while they're at it maybe they can post major league baseball scores too!
@LoBornlite@xanga - when americans or foreigners in america complain about our country do you tell them that they should leave?
Hey, my parents used to have integrity online on our computer (when we first got the internet and they were afraid that something bad would accidentally pop up) when i lived at home. This seems to be the same thing... it's not as though it's mandatory for everyone in the Islamic world to have. But it's great for those who want to control content on their personal computers.
I think it's good that they can use the Internet without violating their beliefs.

No, not at all! But I strongly recommend that they do something relevant and constructive as a means to address their complaints.

The only issue might be that different Muslims may disagree on what is Halal and what is Haraam, the same way that different Christians disagree on what's acceptable and what's not. So long as it's voluntary, and is not being forced on anyone, I think it's fine.

More power to them.
Was there anything more to this post besides a plug for a Muslim search engine?
well if Christians decide to segregate with faithbook and such, then heck, why shouldn't they have a muslim search engine?
I think it shows why many Muslims are far more devote than many Christians; they believe what they believe enough to reject all other "lies".
Imagine what could happen if the Christian had such faith?
Uhm...ok great?
Good for them
I honestly think it's a good idea if you are diligently working to follow your Religion/Beliefs.
Sure, whatever.
@HippocreneQueen@xanga - agrees
as long as people choose to use it voluntarily I guess there isn't a problem.
@deepestrecesses - Some psychotic Christians do have that faith.
@deepestrecesses - I wouldn't phrase it like that. I'd just say that they want to remain as pure as they can, and go to lengths to do so.
@Ulma@xanga - Why would that make them psychotic? Devotion to any religion doesn't necessarily make someone psychotic. There are plenty of normal and reasonable people that are very faithful. They are the ones that show their faith through kindness and peace instead of boycotting and fear mongering.
Why not? We have GodTube.
