I saw a hand-written sign on the side of an expressway-exit ramp Friday which read, "Cheap Web Designs," followed by a phone number. I found it odd and frankly stupid that a sign offering web design-services didn't direct customers to an actual site for additional information.
Really now... would I trust my money and venture to someone who apparently can't build and/or market their own website? If you're "advertising" website-design, wouldn't you automatically assume people would want to see your work? And if "advertising" a web-venture, don't you realize your customer-base is likely educated and internet-savvy and will want to see an example of your work prior to picking up their phone?
I'll never fully understand the power of words, or the subtle nuances that determine the outcome of their transmission. Unfortunately, if our message doesn't come across well, we might find our wisdom and knowledge dismissed, as in the example above.
Luckily, our God doesn't have this shortcoming; nothing he's ever said has led me wrong. I'm the one who does that, so it's good to know that in God and through the Bible, I have ample signs to direct me aright again. Even if one of those signs appear ludicrous or nonsensical, I just have to trust God knows what he's doing and simply make the call.
"Hear, for I will speak noble things, and from my lips will come what is right, for my mouth will utter truth; wickedness is an abomination to my lips. All the words of my mouth are righteous; there is nothing twisted or crooked in them. They are all straight to him who understands, and right to those who find knowledge." Proverbs 8:6-9, ESV

Just be careful. When you're willing to ignore your inner self and trust someone blindly it's easy to get into trouble. Happens every day on so many levels. I'm guessing anyone who took the bait of the handwritten sign you saw on the expressway knows little about computers or the internet. I know many people who might be tempted to call the number on that sign, just as there are many people willing to buy those "learn how to use ebay" books I see advertised on tv. The guy selling the ebay book is really not much different than many of the people selling religion. You can have all the blind faith you want in that guy's ebay book but once you realize the 5 year old next door knows more than that guy does, you'll feel kind of foolish.
Just remember, it's not god talking to you. It's not god talking to someone who believes in the Koran. It's not god talking to someone who believes in the Talmud. It's not god talking to someone who believes in the Bhagavad Gita. There is a lot of wisdom in all of these books. There is no need for someone like you to take them blindly though. You're obviouosly a wonderful person.
This is so wonderful. Thank you for your service and kindness, it was
much appreciated. In addition to my gratitude, I would like to share
with you a story of Rich Roll. Rich Roll is an incredible athlete. He's
known for competing in Iron Man Triathlons, which require a competitor
to swim for 2.4 miles, bicycle for 112 miles, and then run a marathon
all in a day. Rich Roll has been invited to compete in the Ultraman
event, reserved for the elite of elites. Day One is a 6.2 mile swim
then a 90 mile bike ride, Day 2 is a 171.4 mile bike ride, and Day 3 is
two marathons in a row – no breaks. He's being covered by Men's
Fitness Magazine, and is notable for being a practicing vegan. Granted, Rich
Roll won't need a paydayadvance to compete thanks
to corporate sponsors.
