It's true, the greatest gift given to us is love. It's the purpose for living and the reason we were made. We were made to soak in God's love and spread it to the world so that everyone may see His love through us. Throughout time the idea of love has been turned into a human instinct and simplified into a mental response designed to continue the human species. This turns the concept of love into something of a physical nature rather than spiritual gift.
As humans, we have tried to take love and trim it from an old oak tree to a small bush. But trimming love is essentially the same as trying to trim God himself. It's a never-failing always-giving gift that seems to be almost ignored. I can tell you from personal experience that love can be ignored out of sheer human pride, a pride that often stems from a false love that we've allowed the world to create for us.
When we let the world create love for us it becomes something reserved for only a select few that we have chosen worthy of our love. Everyone else seems to be a blemish or nuisance in our lives that we shun in order to maintain an idea of superiority in the world. But when we swallow our pride and allow our love to reach those we would otherwise ignore, we can finally see not only the love of God stemming throughout the world, but we can see our true purpose as children of God.
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. - Romans 8:38-39
We have a love that will never leave us and never change. Unlike humans, God is the same everyday and so is His love. The only way I know to truly thank Him is to give all of our life and love to Him and show everyone we can that some love. In my eyes, love is a gift and a reason. It's a gift that will never run out and a reason to live every day to its fullest.
So, what does love mean to you?

Chemistry, emotional compatibility and inconsequential sacrifice in a relationship usually in that order. Not all must apply.

Love does not waver, even when not returned.
The only example of love we have is from God.
He loves without good reason, without thinking of himself, without the possibility of ending.
That is love.
When you can do that,
Your in love.
extending yourself past your own needs and into anothers.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8
Respect and caring, I guess. It's a relationship that is good for both people involved and creates better people out of them. I would probably have a little more to add if I gave it more thought.
I haven't tried to define love because I've read hundreds of sappy, incomplete (although sometimes vivid and touching) attempts at defining it, and I don't want to be just another one.
at times, its undescribable, it is the strongest of all feelings, yet it is the feeling that is least felt.
Yet love can be found in the simplest of things in life, like the smile of a child, a hug, a few words of encouragement, a high five, a poem, a song, a prayer, an odd moment, if we really look at it love is every where.
"Do not waste time bothering whether you "love" your neighbor; act as if you did. As soon as we do this we find one of the great secrets. When you are behaving as if you loved someone you will presently come to love him."
-C. S. Lewis
Love means everything to me. To put it shortly and bluntly.
@MasterShoe11@xanga - i know what u mean. except i'd like to say its not the same kind of love as romantic love, of course.
everything
Commitment! Love, to me, is like an invisible thread that connects us all as living, breathing human beings - and more importantly connects us as more-than-physical, spiritual beings.

I actually expanded this and wrote a 22 page pseudo book about love, but this is a sufficient summary.
The epistle of John says that God is Love, and by Jesus' example we know what Love is. Love isn't some lame pop song, butterflies in your stomach, or any other feeling, it's a conscious and intentional action.
respect, loyalty
sacrifices. hurts. pain.
Love is the path to eternal life with our God through his only son Jesus Christ. Can you love just as he loves you? Love one or another even when love is not present. Love is light-the guiding light.
Everything.
love ruins you.
Colossians 3:14 admonishes, And above all thigs, put on Charity, which is the bond of perfection. so what is true agape involves.

Unselfishness: Love seeks not it own..

Guilelessness: Thinks no evil....
sincerity: Love rejoices not in iniquity, but rejocies in the . truth
Love is one of the most important concepts in life. Even to the point where God himself is described by that one word. God IS love. All of our decisions should be done with love. Love is so far-reaching and so misinterpreted. Love is truly amazing.
GODFATHER GODMOTHER & ME
the only thing that will truly last forever
Everyone needs love and all the time. The answer is what do I do to express it? When someone needs love do I spend some money or give a hug? Or say something funny? Do I stand on my head? The truth is that we are on the recieving end of love, love is God's gift to us. But he is waiting for us to ask for it.
Love is having the Humility, knowing that you aren't worthy to love.
