A mixture of both..but mostly Christian.
sometimes when i can't find anything on the other radio stations i'll listen to the christian station.
I listen to mainly Messianic Music. I also listen to some Christian and Muslim music.
I have a few Christian songs, but the vast majority of my music is secular.
My favorite song right now is actually Islamic in origin...It is The Veil by Dawud Wharnsby
Smarty pants, here.
I think good music is good music, and bad music is bad music, and most other pigeonholes aren't necessary except for musicological purposes. Of course it does help for worship if the lyrics are addressed to God, but for listening all I ask is that it be done well and not offensively. (Bad hymn arrangements and trite worship choruses count as offensive, but that's at least partly because I'm a classically trained composer.)
i have some christians, but mostly secular music
Music to me (A believer) is either Ministry or Music and I listen to both.
My favorite bands are: Audio Adrenaline, Switchfoot, Skillet, Newsboys, Sanctus Real and DC Talk. You tell me.
Almost all of my songs are Christians songs, but I do have some secular music. I listen to both, but lean more towards Christian music than anything else. It's one way of bathing oneself in the Word of God, afterall.
@Pass_the_Aura@xanga - hear! hear! Ditto!
@Pass_the_Aura@xanga - I can't add to what you've already said.
Most of the bands I listen to are Christian...because let's be honest, most Christian hardcore bands are straight up better than their secular counterparts (As I lay Dying vs. Poison the Well; Haste the Day vs. Every Time I Die....need I say more?). That said, God didn't bless only Christians with musical ability, so I've got a fair amount of secular music as well.
D. I'll listen to great music from any genre, except those genres which don't actually produce great music.
I suspect that much of the 'Christian-themed' music I listen to is performed by non-Christians. The Christian performers I listen to usually perform what some would call 'secular-themed' music.
D.
Sometimes I listen to bands who happen to be considered "Christian" but generally I can never tell the difference between religiously motivated music and that which is secular.
Both genres of music, Christian and secular, can be done equally well. But Christian music has an advantage -- the lyrics will actually point somewhere, whereas secular music can often be just chasing your tail.
i tend to like christian music better, you dont have to worry about them being offensiv or something
I listen to a handful of Christian bands but I don't listen to music based on religion anyways. Religious or anti-religious, whatever sounds good.
Music is Music. That's like asking if you only look at religious paintings. I don't get it. I would rather listen to music that shows talent and feeling in it no matter what the words say and to be honest I prefer my music without words anyway.
So how would we classify all those without words? Are they secular? (Can't say that...there were a lot that were written specifically to be use in Churches) Are they Christian? Well they don't have a message that points you in a clear direction.
Music is a gift from God and should be used to unify people, not to pull them apart into little segments saying "I won't listen to so and so" or I won't listen to secular music" or i won't listen to christian music." Its one of the gifts God gave us that could be truly unifying. Anybody can appreciate music even if they don't understand the words. If all you are interested in is the words, you are not listening to the music, you are listening to poetry. That is a different matter altogether.
Music is music and you should not cut off any branch of music simply because it does not have the poetry you find most appealing. There is a big difference in poetry and music.
Mostly A, sometimes B if I need to spice things up a little.
Yes, I do. Classical, hymns, rock, punk, alternative, pop, dance. I like a lot of different styles.
hrm well I am a country music fan so I don't know what one to pick.
But I do like numerous Christian bands/singers
StarField, Chris Tomlin, 3rd Day, HillSong United, Lincoln Brewster
Aaron Shust, Tim Hughes, and Jeremy Riddle to name a few.
I listen to Christian music most of the time. Â However, I agree that good music is good music no matter what genre it is. Â It's all a matter of taste. Â Somehow, you seem to find the music that suits your mood exactly when you need it.
D. No nominal variables for me.
I dont care if it's christian or not. as long as the lyrics mean something. I tend not to listen to christian though. I like demon hunters! They are a good christian group. And some of 5 iron frenzies. Christian music doesnt have to have all christian themes.
