This week’s RevelifeRocks Artist of the Week, hailing from Owatonna, Minnesota, is
Owl City. Just to avoid confusion, Owl City is actually a one-man act that consists of Mr. Adam Young. Despite not being signed to a label of any sort, Owl City’s popularity is rapidly increasing. He has over 125,000 friends/fans on Myspace, after releasing two albums digitally in 2007 and 2008:
Of June and
Maybe I’m Dreaming. And although it seems he’s not leaning toward any certain market, Adam is not ashamed to clearly state that he is a follower of Jesus Christ. His honesty and transparency is definitely something to be admired, as well as his incredible talent.
Owl City’s music could be described as electronic pop, but don’t dare compare it to the work of other bands who fall under this genre. The musical and lyrical content of every Owl City song has a very special quality. Perhaps it’s Adam’s smooth and sweet-sounding vocals, the entrancing melodies, or maybe it’s the charming lyrics that have the ability to lighten anyone’s mood almost instantly. But chances are that Adam’s appeal is a result of the way in which all those things flow together in great harmony. Listening to Owl City sort of feels like eating a lollipop at the beach on a breezy day, for lack of a better description.
I guess I should just let you experience it for yourself! Listen to Owl City’s “On the Wing” off the album
Maybe I’m Dreaming.

mewithoutYou just released their 4th album "It's All Crazy! It's all False! It's All a Dream! It's Alright!"
CHECK IT OUT!!!!!! It is a MUST HEAR!!! The last two songs are beautiful. If you want to hear art, look no further than this album. The metaphors and parables are stunningly powerful.

I like the song "rainbow veins" personally.
@make_the_boredom_cease@xanga - ME too! Great song. I love this guy to pieces.
@RaquelTWG - I think he's pretty rad myself :]
I've heard this guy from a friend, and I liked his music, but I didn't know he was a Christian. I'll definitely start looking into him again!
Whoa. I like it. I'm suprised that I like it, because normally i'd hate electronic music, but I find myself compelled to nod and twitch in rhythm. It feels like a fresh smack of water. Why am I still listening? What is happening to me?
I was excited to see this post in my subscriptions. My friend showed me Owl City a while ago and I loved the music. I never knew he was Christian either. Thanks!
too pop-y. Porcupine Tree, would be the band I would recommend.
@nyclegodesi24@xanga - Hahaha nice! Honestly, I've never liked electronic either. But I can't resist Adam Young!
@racheelz@xanga - No problem! I'm glad that I get to write about what I like and please the readers at the same time (:
@Pcgecko85@xanga - Yeah, I see how'd you think that. I will have to check out that band, though. I'm always looking for new bands...
A Christian artist I've never heard of. I am surprised. I'll have to check him out.
i did not know he was christian singer! I have rainbow veins and Hello seattle :] but i like this song also! I'll check out his album!
Pretty cool to see this guy up on here. He is beyond amazing and I just so happen to be seeing him this weekend!
His lyrics never fail to put me in a good mood :D
Never heard of him before!
I love the positive and refreshing vibes of his songs (: Yay Owl City!!
I'm not a big Pop/Electronica fan, but I LOVE this. I am a very fluffy, kind of childlike-person, so when I showed this to a few of my friends, they laughed and said "Wow, it's like someone found the sound of your personality."
I love them!
