Don't Compare Me to Anyone But Jesus
How often are you being compared to someone? Maybe your parents try to compare you to your brother or sister. Maybe you've done something that wasn't the brightest idea and yet, someone wants to compare you to someone they don't like.
It's not the greatest things to be compared to someone else, but I know there is one person whom I wouldn't mind being compared to: Jesus Christ. He came to this earth to show us how to live. He is the way, the truth, and the life.
I'm not close to being perfect, but I know that God is merciful and that Jesus is sitting with the heavenly Father making intercession for me. For me. For you. Wow.
It still amazes me that Jesus would take the time to talk to our heavenly Father on the behalf of us. Why would he do such a thing? Why would Jesus come to earth to save us from this horrible place? Why would Jesus give Himself to be crucified to make a way for us to make heaven our home?
I know a lot of Christians [myself included] make it a big deal when God asks us to do something. It could be something simple as calling someone and letting them know that they have been on our hearts and that we just wanted to check in on them. It could be something such as writing a letter, and we can get so frustrated or think that it isn't going to profit anything. Who are we to think that? I know when someone calls me or tells me that they have been praying and thinking about me, it makes me feel loved. It makes me feel as if I'm not fighting alone.
Some people will look at you and act as if you are crazy if you feel the need to pray for someone. Some people shy away from the idea because of their age. Age does not matter. How old was David when he faced the giant? Even though the Bible does not give a specific age, we know that he was a youth. He stepped up to the plate when his brothers and other soldiers were too afraid. How old was Joash when he was king? The Bible says in 2 Kings 11:21 that he was seven when he started his reign. Josiah was eight years old [2 Kings 22:1].
How about you? What age did God call you from among the world? What did God allow you to be in charge of?
I am twenty-two years old, and I know that God has called me to be different from the world. The exact scripture can be found in 2 Corinthians 6:17. I was raised in church, but I haven't always lived the right life. God has been working on me. At the age of 19, God finally got a hold of me... truly, and now I am living for God.
We must strive to live for the Lord. By His grace and mercy, we can make it. If we really want to make heaven our home, we can. We must persevere. Don't let the world be able to compare you to anyone else other than Jesus Christ. He is our example. He is our Lord.
How does your life compare to the one that you believe God wants for you?

Hm, some days it seems real close others not so much. I am grateful for His patience for sure.
To be the person that he called me to be set apart from the world To be a living example of who He is and how to live for Him And to tell others about His second coming Be ready Be on gaurd
I don't want to be compared to Jesus.. simply because it would make me look totally flawed.. but I'm trying!
totally agree with this blog... because I don't want to be compared with other human beings since they have flaws too... So what is the point of being compared with them and see who is better or who isn't... it is a lot better to be compared to Jesus Christ since He is perfect and we cannot say who is better since it is obviously that Jesus Christ is way better than all of us. It also will prevent creating any envy or rivalry between the two that are being compared... =)
Some of us do compare ourselves to Jesus Christ with a reminder such as using WWJD bracelet, shirt, etc...
Matthew 5:4 Blessed [are] they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
"Blessed" means "Oh how happy" are the poor in spirit. "Poor in Spirit" is everyone. Those who are poor in spirit are spiritually bankrupt and those who know it are happy because they know Jesus will save them by faith and "theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
Do you know why we mourn? We mourn because of our spiritual condition. We mourn because we know we are spiritually bankrupt.
Matthew 5:6 Blessed [are] they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
We mourn because we're hungering and thirsting after righteousness. We can be like Jesus but I don't think we can be compared to Him. I think it is a mistake to compare ourselves to Jesus in some aspects because we'll fail people and when we say we're "Christians" instead of spiritually bankrupt then someone is going to say "Well if he/she is a Christian then how can they do that to me?" We've set ourselves up as something we're not and then people don't want anything to do with it because that isn't how Jesus would have necessarily behaved.
I don't know what kind of life God wants for me, therefore I can't say how the one I'm leading must compare.
@Sosthenes - What about Like 6:20, when it kinda leaves out the "of spirit"? Or the "after righteousness" in 21? Or the whole laughing-- not necessarily "comforted"? At least in that regard it doesn't sound like he's talking about quite what you think he's talking about.
I Totaly agree with yer blog. I don't like being compared with other people... its an awful feeling just cause normally your compared as not as good or somthing. i'm 19 and am trying to live my life for God. it can be really hard living with a standard that the world doesn't hold to. sometimes i feel like i can't do it anymore... but last night at church, my pastor said something that just brought it all home for me. if i live my life like there is a God (and i believe there is)and do what i believe he wants me to do... and in the end i'm wrong (if there would be no God) what would i be losing? nothing! but if i live like there isn't a God and and just do whatever i want to and then i come to the end of my life and am wrong.. then what do i have to lose? EVERYTHING! it really put it into perspective for me. living for God can be hard sometimes, but we will miss out on so many blessing if we just throw it all away. follow him even when the times get tough. stand up and be that one person who does right!

It is the same word for beggarly in Galatians 4:9 although it can mean "poor" in relationship to the religion of the day but when it is contrasted with the context of "kingdom" (Luke 6:20) I believe it is talking about Messiah's kingdom.
@skunky17@xanga - We all should live like that. You are absolutely right. If there isn't a God, then we wouldn't lose anything. I believe with all my heart, body, soul, and mind that there is a one, true God and I am bound and determined to give Him all I have and allow Him to mold me into what He sees fit. Thanks for sharing! I really enjoy reading these kind of responses.
@kittyslam12th@xanga - I used to be obsessed with the WWJD bracelets. It's like a fad when I was in elementary and middle school. It was a 'cool' thing to be a Christian. Where are all those people now? If we just keep our eyes towards heaven, we won't lose our focus of God and becoming more like Him.
@pillowpixies@xanga - As long as your give God your life completely and do what you believe is His will [and He will guide you], then you're on the right track.
@ccarothers@xanga - Amen. I am ever so grateful for His mercy and grace. I wouldn't know where I'd be without Him and I sure do not want to find out.
@mark1615kjv@xanga - You can never be too prepared for the rapture. You must always be on guard. I agree.
@Buttercup - :)
