A lot because of the way things are happening in the world.  Everything is pointing toward the coming of Christ very soon!  I hope everyone out there is ready!

  • sierrraa@xanga

People have been thinking the end of the world was going to happen in their lifetime for 2000 years. I think it's silly to focus on things like that when there is entirely too much stuff going on here and now that need to be dealt with.

  • Charity_the_So_Called_Artist@xanga

They are already talking about a one world government, though just for my sanity's sake, I try not to dwell on it too much. We need to be ready for Christ!

  • princess1505angel@xanga

I hear about it but I don't think of it on my own.  The world has been a crappy place to live for thousands of years.  The people I hear talking about it tend to have a US-centric view: every time things get a tad more difficult in the states it means it's the end times.  Never mind the fact that these "signs" have been happening all over the globe for decades or centuries.

There's no way to know when Christ will return, as the Bible explicitly points out.  It would be a better use of time and money to help people who are hurting than it is to print all these magazines and books and brochures on why it's the end of the world this time around.

i don't think it's coming any time soon. and if it is, i believe in a physical embodiment of the end times. i believe that the earth will encounter cosmological events that were set in motion by God at the very beginning of time, just like everything else was. something will happen, like a slight shift in earth's orbit, a solar flare, an asteroid, etc. that will be a physical embodiment of the things noted in revelation.

also, there's the possibility that none of it is taken to be literal, that it could be john's message to the people of his time about the roman domination and whatnot. most of the things that were supposed to be signs of the end have been going on for almost 2000 years now, i don't know why anyone would think they would come true now. they've been saying the end is nigh since john wrote it.

so, in short, don't get your hopes up. and if it does happen soon, it won't be what some christians expect. it will be scientifically explained, most likely stemming from cosmological events set in motion by God at the beginning of time. cause he does that kind of stuff. and also, good science + christianity = a new level of understanding about the Bible. (try it, it's cool)

a lot - especially if you read HERE

  • echois23@xanga

I try very hard not to think about the end times ever. I try to simply live each day God gives me. I want every day of my life to be worth what I trade it for.... Matthew 6:34 "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

  • slinky@xanga

Put on your tennis shoes and wait for the flying space ship to come and get you. Heckl no, I'm too busy living to think about end times. When they happen they happen but  unless someone pushes a red button someplace or mother nature gets sick of us all,  they won't be anytime soon. Just keep on plugging and read history...it was a lot darker. Life is too short already quit worrying about end time.

  • eskeemo_kisses@xanga

I think about the end times constantly. You must always live ready. Only God Himself knows when Jesus will return according to Matthew 24:36. All the signs that have been fulfilled lead to when Jesus will make His second appearance. The rapture will happen before his second coming. I'm not freting, but I am trying to live my life the best I can and that I am pleasing God with my life.

  • schwanica

I used to be very fearful of that kind of thing when I was a kid, but once I became aware of a proper understanding of prophetic texts and apocalyptic language in Scripture my anxiety eased.

I believe the only thing left to happen on the prophetic timetable is the bodily resurrection and that this is a simultaneous event with Christ's return. I believe the gospel will be effective in the world and that the dispensational/rapture theology that was invented in the 19th Century by John Nelson Darby and popularized by the Scofield Study Bible is one of the most damaging beliefs that a Christian can hold. It renders us horribly ineffective, and we need only to examine the history of our own nation to see when the decline began.

Christians CAN, through the power of the Holy Spirit, make this world someplace Jesus will be welcomed back to. We need to quit fretting about some global catastrophe that is simply NOT predicted by Scripture and start focusing on the task that has been laid before us by Christ Himself.

  • londonsgirl@xanga

Yes, I think about it continually. I often weigh the importance of matters at hand with the knowledge that "Christ is coming back soon -- does this really matter? Or, Is this a worthy use of my time?"

Like you, I have felt an urging nudge to read Revelations to gain a better understanding for what will happen and what we should be looking for.

The Lord says that it is important that we know what to expect. Everyone should be able to understand the times.

  • sugartomyhoney@xanga

Who said thinking about the end times = worrying about it.  It doesn't.  It's called not living with your head in the sand, being aware and making sure you are ready.

  • asdfghjkieu@xanga

i don't think about the end of the world besides my own death.

  • Veronica_Leigh@xanga

I think about it a lot, especially when prophecy is coming to pass. Like they're all talking about having a one world currency now. Sure they've mentioned it in the past, but we're closer to it now than we ever were before.

  • SirNickDon@xanga

I only think about it long enough to make bad jokes about it.

  • hope42moro@xanga

You know, so many folks for so many years have preached the "end time" message......they preach a gospel of doom and gloom.  That's not the gospel found in the Word.

If we all would realize we only have today, and we have yet to fulfil that great commission, then the end will come where all will look with joy and no regrets.

When we lay down to sleep today.....do we have regrets of things left undone? May we live each day as though it were our last on this earth that in due time we could reap with joy what we have sown.

    Seek first the kingdom .....

    Hope

We are always hearing about the end times. I don't believe this is it...when it is, we'll know! There's really no mistaking fiery metoerites and a ton of other things come crashing to the earth, now is there?

  • LadyLibellule@xanga

I think about it because I'm afraid Christians are going to turn it into a self-fulfilling prophecy.  Now that's scary.

  • Soul_Pizza@xanga

Have you been hearing about the end times lately?

    Yes.

    Are we in the end
    times?

    No.

Have you had dreams about it like some or do you have the urgency to read Revelation?

    Hell no!

The whole concept makes me laugh, though...  Christians act like complete ass-wipes, and when people hate them for it they scream "See, the Bible said this would happen!"  No, actually...  The Bible says people will hate you because of Christ, not because you're a bunch of self-righteous douche-licks...  Most people, like Ghandi, are perfectly okay with Christ...  It's YOU they have a problem with!

But really, it's mostly fear mongering, just like the concept of Hell.  It's another desperate ploy to try and get us heathens to follow a bunch of lunatics into what LadyLibellule (in the comment above me) fears; a self fullfilling prophesy!

  • EminemsRevenge@xanga

With the economy in freefall and Fargo on the brink...sure seems that way

  • jmallory@xanga

I don't really care, as long as people are ready for it.

  • Theophilus166@xanga

I believe God told us about the end for a reason.  If we weren't supposed to think about it, God wouldn't have told us.  However, the end times need to motivate us to live for today, rather than wait for THAT day. I think that's where a lot of people make a mistake.

  • Faith

I'm really scared to read Revelation.

My parents believe we are very near the end times and I don't think I can handle that yet..

  • serene81

I try not to think about it and just try to live each day right. Nobody knows what will happen and when the last day is.

  • Sosthenes

@Faith - We don't have to be scared because God hasn't appointed us to wrath:

1 Thessalonians 5:9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

Colossians 3:6 For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience (G543, apeitheia)

I looked up the definition and according to Vine's it means "the condition of being unpersuadable".

The difference is the contrast between being unpersuadable when we were unsaved and now.  We believe because we are persuaded to believe:

Romans 11:30 For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief (G543, apeitheia:

Romans 11:31 Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.

Therefore I conclude the children of disobedience are those who don't believe God at all.

The other words "believed" are closely related to G543 in Romans 11 that it is a contrast.
