    My father is Jewish.
    My mother is Muslim.

My brother and I are Buddhist.

    I guess not?

  • jays_jumble_of_junk@xanga

Not at all. I was raised Catholic, but at the age of 11 I dedicated myself to a more Nature-oriented path: Paganism.

It has been 11 years and have never regretted it. I am actually rededicating myself on Feb. 14 to mark this new stage in my life.

I was raised agnostic or apathetic, in my mid teens that apathetic became militant atheism. That is I attacked the beliefs of Christians, especially my peers. In college God did a miracle before my eyes and a couple months after that I became a Christian by God's grace. And now instead of attacking the beliefs of high school students I teach Sunday school. Even my parents said they never would have expected that. God really has a sense of humor. :)

I was raised Catholic and am still Catholic.  So, yes, I definitely hold the same beliefs as my parents...and I wouldn't have it any other way.

  • SWAurora@xanga

I do, although we don't always agree theologically. But for the most part we are all on the same page. I like it like that. My parents are the first ones I talk to about what God is doing in my life.

  • clinttjohnson@xanga

Yep, my parents are strong believers in Christ, and I love Jesus too! I'm a sinner saved by Grace, and will never be perfect, but Jesus was perfect and took the debt for my sin! I need to try and grow in Jesus each day!

  • xthread@xanga

Nope.  I did at one point hold the same beliefs as my parents (say, up till age 16) but I don't any longer, no.  They're fundamentalist Christians... I am a follower of my own religion.  Put the Bible, the Kabbalah, some Eastern religions, Paganism, etc, in a blender... you may or may not come out with my belief system.  My beliefs are constantly growing and evolving as I grow and evolve.

  • Aaliyaan@xanga

My parents and the rest of my extended family are Jewish and I'm Muslim.
    So simply put, no.

  • Pickwick12@xanga

Mainly, we all love Jesus and want to know Him more.

We're all Assembly of God and agree with the A/G statement of faith. I think I might be more firmly Arminian than my parents. Not that they would disagree, but I don't think they've mulled over it as much as I have.

  • TheHiddenPartofMe@xanga

Sort of.  We agree on the basics - one God who created the Universe, revealed Himself through the Bible, was incarnated in Jesus Christ who died for our sins and was resurrected on the third day, etc.  But we disagree on some of the peripheral issues.  They would never use the word, but they (especially my dad) are fundamentalists, for lack of any better word, but my faith is more liberal and (i believe, at least) more historically orthodox.

  • EccentricSiren@xanga

Not at all. My parents are Christians and I'm a Pagan. They don't know about my Pagan beliefs, just that I no longer have their beliefs. That in itself sometimes causes conflict.

  • pansybradshaw@xanga

my mother wuz roman catholik my burth father orthodox prezbyterian my adoptive father an evangelikal lutheran my grand parentz on all sidez wer footwashing baptists snake handlerz & unitarianz with the catholiks bein the dominate strain i convertid to judaism when i wuz 19

  • HeadStrongChica@xanga

generally yes...we disagree on some things theologically, but yea for the most part...

  • Stephanie_J_B@xanga

Yes, my parents are Christians and I am thankful to have been raised in a Christian home. At the same time....I fear it has made me take for granted a lot of what God has done for me...

Not that I would have it any other way! I'm very grateful to have been raised in a Christian home.

  • AllConfused@xanga

I wasn't raised with any sort of religion and my parents are quiet about what they believe.

  • LadyLibellule@xanga

I think my mother's beliefs are similar to mine.  I don't know what my father believes.  He's either agnostic or atheist (as a result of being forced to be Catholic as a child, I suspect).  My sister... I have no idea.

  • Shy___Away@xanga

Not even close. What my parents believe is almost exactly the opposite of what I believe.

  • harmonyminusmelody@xanga

fundamentally, me and my parents believe the same. but, as someone said earlier, the littler issues are where we don't agree. when i was younger (9th and 10th grade and below) i was ultra conservative. hated gay people, thought abortion was evil, and thought everyone in the world knew of jesus and just decided to not follow him. well, i got older and wiser and now i have fairly liberal views compared to my parents' neo-con views.

  • danielle_thexdino@xanga

My parents are both Christian and are followers of God, but we aren't too active in the church. We also don't go every Sunday.

Even though I believe in God, I'm starting to question an organized religion as I find it quite hypocritical and judgemental.

  • TheGreatBout@xanga

Like Origen and Jerome, I must claim that my Mother, the Spirit, has
seized me. I have only one Father and he is the creator of all things. I try to agree with all my parents have taught and are
    teaching me.

  • CrazySwede@xanga

Nope. My parents raised me Catholic; I'm now an evangelical and part of the Christian & Missionary Alliance.

@danielle_thexdino@xanga - "I'm starting to question an organized religion as I find it quite hypocritical and judgemental."

Those are legitimate sentiments.  A lot of it is.  However, try to make sure you don't quit following the leader because some of his followers are idiots.

  • dreadfully__yours@xanga

nope. my dad for the most part doesn't know. he'd virtually abandon me if he did. my mom doesn't really know, but i'm sure i've left some hints that kinda start to shock her. she won't be too happy.

  • sheepthatsblack@xanga

My parents and I are Christians....though very different doctrine and very different ways of approaching it...my sister's apathetic.
So yeah for the most part, ish.
