Great. Another self-rigtheous athlete thanking an immoral god for his achievements rather than his own skillset. When is my flight to Europe?

  • Katja88@xanga

I feel obligated to say that Daniel Sepulveda, Steelers kicker, came and talked to my youth group about his faith.

    GO STEELERS!!!

    That is all.

  • TheGreatBout@xanga

Why does Revelife post this stuff?

  • huginn@xanga

This is America, a country built on Christainity. It's the Asians, Muslims, and Godless heathens who should be ashamed.

  • the_caramel_macchiato@xanga

@huginn@xanga -  this made me crack up. I think people remember more that it's "the melting pot" not that we're ONE NATION UNDER GOD.

  • the_caramel_macchiato@xanga

@Auxesis@xanga -  maybe i'm confused because of the victory... but since when is thanking God.. SELF righteous? you're right about the RIGHTEOUS part... but as he states, it's not him, it's JESUS. HALLELUJAH

Kurt visited our area and spoke about this.

@CyanideNGunpowder@xanga - ...and they still lost.

Sometimes, it is in God's wonderful and mysterious plan to put the faithful through undue agony.

Like when God allowed the Holocaust, he had a plan! It is beyond our comprehension to question or even assess his limitless wisdom.

Psalm 49:16-20 (New King James Version)

16 Do not be afraid when one becomes rich,
             When the glory of his house is increased;
     17 For when he dies he shall carry nothing away;
His glory shall not descend after him.
18 Though while he lives he blesses himself
(For men will praise you when you do well for yourself),
     19 He shall go to the generation of his fathers;
             They shall never see light.
20 A man who is in honor, yet does not understand,
Is like the beasts that perish.

    Matthew 6:24 (New International Version)

     24"No one can
serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or
he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve
    both God and Money.

    Exodus 20:11 (New International Version)

11 For in six days the
LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them,
but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the
Sabbath day and made it holy.

@huginn@xanga - "This is America, a country built on Christainity. It's the Asians, Muslims, and Godless heathens who should be ashamed."

    A couple of points:

    * One would think you could proof read enough to ensure you spelt your religion correctly.

    * Why mention a whole geographical area? Don't you like short brown
people? What should they be ashamed of? You didn't mention Jews. Was
that because that would expose you for the racist bigot you appear to
    be?

    * Heathens by definition believe in a god different from yours. They are not godless as such.

    * America, like every other empire, was built on aggressive imperial
expansion since the day Honkies first appeared before the astonished
eyes of the doomed Arawaks. Like every other bunch of hypocrites down
through the ages, they have the habit of invoking their deity for
    victory. Europeans didn't bring Jesus to the New World, yto the New World, they brought death and extinction;

While faith provides for afterlife security, it doesn't offer immunity from typos.

And I think you're right, arguments metaphysically become less correct the moemtnt they're expressed with typos.

Why mention a whole geographical area? Don't you like short brown people? What should they be ashamed of?

Because American Christians are a bigoted bunch. It was on this basis that we kicked the Chinaman out of the U.S. (Chinese Exclusion Act, 1882) and it was on this basis that we later excluded all Asians from entry into the U.S (early 20th century).

Heathens by definition believe in a god different from yours. They are not godless as such.

    Poetic license, biatch.

America, like every other empire, was built on aggressive imperial expansion since the day Honkies first appeared before the astonished eyes of the doomed Arawaks.

That's besides the point. Many of the original 13 colonies were formed as havens for denominational whorship.

Faith has been an integral aspect of American settlers and immigrants since the time of Plymoth Colony.

Physically, America has expanded through a couple shrewd purchaes (Lousiana Territory, Alaska) and a bad war (Mexican-American), but spiritually, through its constituients, the country is starkly Christian.

  • misswonderj@xanga

    Oh my god. Who cares?
Are Christians that desperate for reassurance that they wait for any athlete (on a losing team no less) to say the word "Jesus?"

    Seriously.
People need to get over that shit.

  • The_Guitarfan@xanga

I think everyone here has completely missed the point.

Kurt Warner is a human being like the rest of us, and that means he needs God to save his soul just like the rest of us.  If he is a Christian, then it means he believes that God has given him his talents and his skillset, so it's not that he's saying that God favors him over the other teams or anything like that.  If he is a Christian, he does not view the Christians on the other team as anything except brothers.  There is no difference between him talking about his faith in an interview than me talking about mine with a co-worker or a friend.  It's a legitimate part of his life, so it's a legitimate topic to discuss when he's discussing his life.  I don't know how real his faith is, that's between him and God, but I don't see why people have a problem with the way he talks about it.  Unless they are just categorically opposed to Christianity, which, again, is between them and God.
  • mrsengeseth@xanga

I appreciate his belief. I do. What I don't understand is why people would go to a Christian based blog and attempt to vilify the faith they find there. No duh, you'll find Christian beliefs and articles about other Christians there. You'll find information and images, etc that underscore the Christian faith. What do you expect a blog that specifically says "A Christian Blogging Community" to talk about?? I mean, really? Who needs to "get over it"? If you don't agree, why bother going to the blog at all? Why not move onto the next blog? Or specifically looking to one that fell more in line with what you believe?

Anyhow, that is beside the point of the article. I am glad that Mr. Warner has enough belief in his convictions that he doesn't feel the need to hide it, or to be ashamed of his God. More power to him.

  • Stephanie_J_B@xanga

I love Kurt Warner! And I'm shocked that so many people here have a negative viewpoint of him for expressing his faith in God.

    Porn clip interrupts Super Bowl

    AP - February 3, 2009, 9:55 am

A Tucson, Arizona television station says its broadcast of the Super
Bowl was interrupted for some customers by about 10 seconds of
    pornographic material.

    yahoo news.

    a warning to all Christian

    Isiah 58:13-14

  • hellowookie@xanga

@Stephanie_J_B@xanga - I'm not shocked... it's to be expected. Non-Christians don't want Christian beliefs "shoved" on them but they have no problem shoving theirs on others.

The guy can say whatever he wants to say, and believe what he wants to believe.
@delay_ends_here@xanga - Not all Christians subscribe to reading and analyzing everything in the Bible EXACTLY as it is written. Many do not. I'm pretty sure Kurt Warner doesn't worship money. He happens to have quite a lucrative career made for himself, and he's chosen to worship God through his God-given talent in the football arena. It's not his fault he gets paid a pretty penny to do so. It's a perk that comes with the job, but not playing football would be wasting something that God gave him to do. I'm pretty sure there's something in the Bible about not using what God gave you and that being a sin but I can't quote Bible verses out the wahzoo.
  • Stephanie_J_B@xanga

@whitneyxxxx@xanga - You're right, maybe what surprised me is that so many people commenting on this aren't Christians....it doesn't surprise me that the world would be opposed to something like this. Since Jesus told us that we would be despised by the world for following Him. It is to be expected.

  • Boss_Lady0952@xanga

@mrsengeseth@xanga - Amen to that!  I've also mentioned it in comments before.  Do they go to homosexual, Muslim or atheist forums and insult them, belittle what they believe, or sneer at what is most important to them?  Of course not.  But apparently they think it's fine to do that here on a Christian forum.

I've said it before:  I welcome open and frank discussion and even respectful disagreements.  And I believe most Christians on this forum feel the same way.  What I don't welcome are those who only want to ridicule and deride us and our faith or engage in pointless arguments.

Way to go Kurt Warner!  My hat's off to any person in the public eye who has the courage to talk openly about his/her faith, whether they're an athlete, in politics, the film or music industry, etc.
