  • Living the Bible – Matthew 6:25–27

    revelifecrew by revelife crew

Continuing to talk about how Scripture applies to our lives –

Please share if and how this passage reminds you of any life lessons, relates to a current situation, or just what it means to you.

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? – Matt. 6:25–27

surprisingly, I came across this verse last night and God really spoke to me in this verse.

I have a job interview tomorrow and I'm a bit nervous because it's my first job. I was worried what the interviewee will ask me, what to wear..etc.

But if God gave me this opportunity He will definitely be by my side to encounter it. If God wants me to have this job, He will find a way to provide it, even if I screw up in my interview.

I don't know who the interviewee will be, but because God knows, I should trust in Him and rely on Him for confidence and strength. :)

It reminds me Of Yahweh Yireh -- The L-rd Will Provide - The L-rd who sees

With my husband (The sole source of income) found out this past Friday that he is laid off and is not guaranteed a call back, we could have panicked but instead we are choosing to depend and rely on Yahweh Yireh.

I think this is especially important in our anxiety-ridden modern world. There is real serenity available in verses like this.

I am always so filled with worry, but when one puts a conscious effort towards having more faith and trust in God, the total way we look at life changes. Our lives are very hindered when we're filled with anxiety.

I've been blessed to see God's provision so many times in my life.  He's never late, but He's never early, either!  This economy is giving us plenty of opportunity to practice this reliance on God, because my husband's work is in real estate.  There is a companion verse to this in Psalm 37:25 "I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging for bread."  There is great comfort and peace in that.

I think it is difficult to apply this to every part of our lives.  I don't worry about physical provision very much.  God has always taken care of my family, even when Dad didn't have much of a job, or no job at all.

But, it is harder for me to follow this when it comes to friendships with girls.  That is where I need to get better at applying this.

Seriously, whether we can believe it or not (I know at times it's hard for me to believe it, even though I know it) that God is in ultimate control over everything! He's got the whole world in His hands, and we just have to trust him! Easy words to say, hard thing to live out!

i'm glad i stumbled across this today.

i like to be in control of things and have my own "back up plans" in case something doesn't work out. lately, it's been very clear that no matter how many back ups i have, life is still uncertain and worrying about things doesn't change the situation at hand. "letting go and letting god" isn't easy at all, but its neccessary to maintain a measure of sanity, lol

    Hello Revlife crew,
You made your site simple yet elegant. The pictures are a nice touch. I see that you have a strong desire to serve God. Now is a good time! I recommend the one true God, Jehovah. He has an important message for all of us: 1 And now, O ye priests, this commandment is for you. 2 If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith Jehovah of hosts, then will I send the curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings; yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart. (Malachi 2:1-2) (ASV)
