From Where Instruction Comes...
Guest post submitted by BarryDadof3
God's ideal structure is for children to learn from their parents. Parents' daily affirmations of right and wrong guide children in the path of the Lord. It is a parent's instruction that a son or daughter will recall when they face situations that the have to make on their own. For those of us who have had that we fully understand how the instruction of our parents shaped our lives. God has shown me something else as I pondered Proverbs 1:8-9...8My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother: 9For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.
We live in a world today where many people grew up in a home where they were missing one or both of thier parents. Some because they are of single parent household, some because parenting took a back seat to other ventures of their parents' lives or others simply because they became the parents while the parents lives lay in ruin. So where do they then learn the ideas of right and wrong when the parents are not there to instruct them right from wrong- THE WORLD.
That's right ...you play an important part. You in essence by example become a parent to the un-parented. It is by your example, when they see you operate as their co-worker, cab driver, cashier, bank teller or even stranger on the street, that they see the instruction of the heavenly Father. Some of you will be called to share with those who will be hearing things for the first time and some will be called to share with someone who just needs a little reminder of what they were shown earlier.
This has caused me to ponder something about all my Christian Xangan friends...
If it is not too personal and you wish to share in the comments, how did you come to know Christ? Who shared Christ with you? And lastly did you ever thank that person or people or organization?

I found Christ at the most lowest point in my life 18, already done drugs and alcohol, not even looking forward living to 21 or past 21...
thankfully one of my cousin's friend spotted, me, asked me to come to church to just play badminton after few months i was asked to come to youth nights then the following was Sunday worship...
ever since then 2 years has passed 2008 was the last time i served in the same church as my cousin's friend has(one of my closest best-friend now) and they seen me grow spiritually than the other youth...
Yes they know how thankful i am for their sharing of Christ, and pray that he will impact others' lives like he has done for me, but i pray God gives me the strength to give that same thing to others i meet...
John 15:9 "As the father loved me, I also have loved you, Abide in my
love" - Jesus says The same exact way that God the father loves God the
son, the same exact way God loves me, that's how much i love you, God
is not telling you to abide in your love for him, He's telling you to
abide in his love for you" - so i abide in his love for me, but in
order to abide in his love for me, you have to know that God is in
Pursuit of you" - "The reality is- we're not knocking on God's door,
He's knocking on our door..." - “We didn’t find Jesus, Jesus found you;
you want to know what that means? He is in pursuit of you, and that
thing didn’t stop… its not like he pursued you and say there and
thought “well my works done…” God didn’t get you saved and then say…
“hmmm, I’m not into pursuing you anymore” Jesus will find you, but
here’s is your responsibility – to make sure that when He knocks it is
louder than any knock in your life… The problem is there’s a whole
bunch of knocking in your life, there’s a lot of distractions, there’s
a lot of knocking, there’s a lot of Noise... and you have to get to a
place when you hear Jesus Knock its louder than any other knock… you
have the ability when Jesus knocks to say “I have many options, there
are many things knocking in my life, I could do many things, But Jesus
I CHOOSE YOU in the midst of all of those options, you’re the one that
I want, you’re the one I’ll respond to… it’s the only way…”-“I step in
the ring with God and encounter that he’s crazy in love with me, all
that stuff just doesn’t even matter anymore…” - Banning Liebscher (Jesusculture)
My parents came to know the Lord in their late 20's early 30's. I remember them talking about it, and I remember Sunday School. I remember there being some pretty big changes in our family when they found the Lord.
But really I came to know Jesus as a result of a dream I had, it kind of happened between me and Him in the depths of the night.
I suppose later my parents lead me through a sinners prayer or something, but they always said they thought it was a genuine experience of God because they noticed my behaviors change.
I was 6.
I have personally led several of my children to the Lord and watched them flourish as many wonderful people God has sent into our lives, including grandparents take a healthy interest in their spiritual growth and well being.
Great post Barry.
I got saved at a youth lock in at church. I had a mom that taught me as much spiritual stuff as she knew but hadnt been taught that much and a dad that didnt teach me anything spiritual so I kinda just made my own way through stuff but I had a few people that really took me in
I learned from my Mother and Father, but mostly from my mother since she was the Children's Church teacher. I accepted Messiah in my life at a very young age. My parents made a lot of mistakes with me growing up, but I am very thankful that they kept pointing me back to Messiah.
Are you the Barry
i thinkyou are?
