    my christmas
    was fucking horrible.
so why doesn't the whole world
    shutupp about christmas
and not make it a HUGE DEAL,
because the bigger deal it is,
    the bigger disappointment it is.

^ And I got the greatest new headphones ever from my dad!

My Christmas was rather mixed. I enjoyed giving presents and seeing my family and friends. However, my grandfather was put in the hospital so that made it a little bit of a drag. I ended up having to cook Christmas dinner for 11 people. I now know how to make broccoli casserole.

Christmas is what you make it, as is every day of the year. I chose to have a good time, despite some arguments that happened, and uncomfortable situations, and hospital visits. I am glad we have a holiday in which we celebrate the birth of Jesus (even if he was born in the spring) and a time in which we can come together with family and/or friends and show how much we love them through food, gifts, song, and some homemade apple pie.

@oneirical@xanga - Any day has a mixed bag of activities in it.  We can celebrate what we liked and do our best to overlook and deal with what we didn't, or, we can be a profane, bellicose and belligerent infant and insist that if we didn't like it, then no one can.  Grow up, and stop pouting and spewing just because you can.

If things that happened during your holiday, week day, or even your life is making you feel unhappy; then remember the responsibility for happiness is yours and yours alone.

Sure, the rest of us and events beyond your control can have influence on the level of possibilities.  But no one else has the power to decide if you are going to be happy or unhappy.  Your choice makes no sense at all, and I hope you grow as tired of making it as the rest of us are in having people like YOU insist on influencing OUR days and ways with your attitude.  You are being, at the very least, a bully.

@SWAurora@xanga - I love your attitude!  I also had some things go awry this year; but I can remember other Christmases that had more disappointments than this year did, too.

Like you, I just wanted to enjoy the time to celebrate the influence of Christ on my world, and as my hope for eternity.  I am still enjoying the time to reflect and consider even more now that the hustle and bustle is done of all the entertaining and gathering.  Since traditionally Christmas Eve is the "first day of Christmas", I am still enjoying some observances of traditional elements of the holiday until Epiphany, aka Twelfth Night, aka Day of the Magi (which is January 6th).  Then I will put away all the decorations and other items having to do with Christmas in specific, until I get to celebrate it again next year.

Everyday has something to celebrate, if we wish to experience a life well-lived!

My Christmas was great! One different thing, my job required me to work on Christmas day, a first for me! But only 3 1/2 hours total so not bad!

It was good, since I got a new iPod nano, very happy about that (you can see my post and comment on it if you wish )

it was pretty good, i just wish i had someone special to spend it with.

The start of the day was rough in our house.  But towards the evening I took off to the basement with my guitar and my older brother.  He was on the keyboard and we both sang out lungs out.  Starting with Christmas songs and moving on to worship music.  It was honestly the best part of Christmas.

Seeing the rest of the family who we dont see often (my mum youngest brother,    my mums older brother and his wife)

Having lunch together with my Nan, Great Nan and Granddad and my Nans and Granddad house,

Afternoon after the Queen's speech.   my Uncle and his wife bought up the Wii and most of us played on this.

  • IntoTheCrimsonSky

Mine was bitter-sweet. Spent it with just my mom, because we lost the rest of the family who wants anything to do with us the last couple years. But that was okay. We were going to have a quiet one. You know -- big meal, snacks, talking, Christmas music, playing games together (we bought a wii just for the occasions).

Until one of my closest friends -- and whom was my boyfriend -- passed away suddenly on the 21st of December. At the age of only 24. He was supposed to be here for Christmas, but things got in the way. Had he been, he probably wouldn't have died. :(

So yeah. Not a very good Christmas, except that it brought me closer to God than ever.

  • Sam707@xanga

my mother had a slightly stressful christmas and wrapped a present of mine... well she wrapped the box but there wasn't a present in the box. I don't think anyone in my family has ever laughed so hard as we all did.

  • oneirical@xanga

@IMChurchmouse@xanga -  well i never said anybody else couldn't enjoy it, i just don't understand why it's such a *huge* deal. comercially, and family-wise, and etc.

&& also, not trying to influence anyones day. the question asked; how was your christmas, and i answered it honestly.

and maybe i would loveloveLOVE! to have a happy christmas for once in my life. really, that is also a possibility. but i just kind of hate how eveyrone is all like; omg my christmas was awesome! that is all. but anyways, call me whatever names you like! ;)

    happy new yearrr!

    peace,rocknrollll.

  • IMChurchmouse@xanga

@oneirical@xanga - I also sincerely wish you the best.

I had thought you were trying to say that everyone should stop enjoying the holidays just because you couldn't.  With the use of profanity, and the "shut up" comment, it seemed to me that you were.  Instead, I will pray:

Lord, I ask that this person be blessed with a new view of a richness of life and its experiences.  May they experience Your love in a deeper way; and may they see more grace, kindness and hope than they have so far. Amen

  • IMChurchmouse@xanga

@Sam707@xanga - Rofl!  Thanks for sharing that!

  • oneirical@xanga

oh no im really just jealous of people who enjoy the holidays, and was freshly upset about it. that is why it is so 'profanne'.

my view of life and its experiences, is actually pretty good for the most part, other than my fanatically religious family..

    :)

    happy holidays
