I don't know, but honestly I don't care, I love listening to all my pastor's messages.
around 45 minutes
30-40 minutes on Sunday morning, 45 to 65 minutes on Friday night.
Honestly... I'm not sure. Church starts at 10 and we usually get done around 11:45ish. So, I think he preaches for somewhere between an hour and an hour and a half. Depending on the day. lol
Both priests at my church go for about 15 to 20 minutes at an absolute maximum. The liturgy itself is well over an hour an a half, but the sermon is just one small part of it and is actually optional on all days other than Holy Days of obligation.
45 minutes to an hour, but it never feels that long! We only have a Sunday evening service
@MysteriumFidei@xanga - Wow, only 15 to 20 minutes? Amazing, honestly. Here in Tennessee they go long. Perhaps I should have been Catholic, :)
It depends. Church usually ends up being between 2- 21/2 hours, so he usually preaches for an hour, sometimes more.
@JUSTAVAPORHERE@xanga - For the Catholic, the sermon is just one tiny part of the liturgy. For us, the focus of the Mass is not what the priest says in his sermon - it is what the priest gives us from the altar that is the most important. Sermons are wonderful things - don't get me wrong - but worship of God in Word and Sacrament are far more important to us.
Protestant ministers go long here in Georgia as well.
one hour :)
@JUSTAVAPORHERE@xanga - @MysteriumFidei@xanga - And I was just thinking that 45 minutes is way too long for a sermon and I'm Protestant!
When I preach, it's usually 15 to 20 minutes, but I've done 10 minute sermons before. When the other minister at my church preaches, he can go on for 20 to 30 minutes. If I preach longer I get bored, and if I get bored then I know my congregation is bored.
my pastor usually preaches an hour...he could go longer but he does multiple services so he can't.
A little under an hour or so.
For about 30 minutes to an hour depending on the topic. It never seems that long though.
The pastor at my old church preached for close to 30 mins, but we just moved and at our new church the pastor preaches about 15-25 mins.
Our pastor usually preaches 30-40 minutes. We have two worship services on Sundays, and each lasts about 60-75 minutes. (we always go to both) The sermons are the key point of the liturgy though. So I'm quite happy that half the service is sermon, because it's through the preaching of the Word that faith is built.
35-40minutes
He typically preaches between 30 and 45 minutes.
15-20 minutes... any more and the old folks start complaining about their arthritis.
30-50... depending on how hungry the ppl are or if there is another temple they need to visit (AKA the Temple of Sony Big screen HD to their other Savior, football game watching)...
35 minutes
20-30 minutes
Around 30 minutes. When I preached, that is what I always aimed for, because that is what the church liked. And no need to make the people angry over something trivial like that.
I used to go to a church where the pastor only took 20 minutes maximum! We used to joke aout his style becuse it was like listening to a "machine gun"!
He spoke so fast that it was hard to take notes but if you listened intently he had a lot to say in that 20 minutes!
I've also attended churches where the preaching would last over an hour!
20-30 minutes, maybe. Not sure.
