  • What "Scrubs" Taught Me About Guy Love

    Guest blog submitted by jmallory

I love Scrubs. It has to be my favorite TV show of all time. I feel like I can relate to some of the characters and the love that J.D. and Turk hold for each other: "guy love".

Guy love is something special. It is a love that only two men can have for each other, it is strictly platonic, and nothing – no woman, food, activity, job – can come between it.

I wish all love could come like this. It doesn't take much work. However, this post is about romantic love. The love that tends to make or break lives.

It is hard to love somebody romantically. It takes work. Sometimes this love hides its face behind lust. Sometimes this love turns into an idol and no matter how a person treats you, you want that love so badly that you will allow that person to treat you as if you were the scum of the earth.

I tend to be attracted to girls who would push me around. Maybe I like the attitude. Maybe it is just the fact that this is how the girl I loved treated me for 5 years and I knew of nothing else but that.

I'm really not ready for a relationship. I know what love can do to a person.  It's dangerous.  But I will know when I am ready.  And that person that I am with is not going to regret a moment with me. :)

Do you think friendship love is easier to maintain than romantic love?
