  • God Has Given All of Us Individual Talents to Use for His Glory

    CoCo Chanel

"Success is often achieved by those who don't know that failure is inevitable.”-CoCo Chanel

I am a fashionista (this title is obviously self-proclaimed).  I love the world of high end fashion and couture.  Sometimes I watch "Cribs" on MTV and have fantasies of being able to stock my closet like Mariah Carey and Kimora Lee Simmons.  I especially love Chanel because things from the House of Chanel are classic, timeless.  If I had the money to purchase a Chanel suit right now, I could almost guarantee that I would be able to wear it 10 years from now and still be fashionable (provided of course that I didn't gain weight).

The amazing thing about CoCo Chanel is that she had very humble beginnings.  She was born out of wedlock, was an orphan and lived a life of poverty in her earlier years.  Yet, in spite of this, she became arguably one of the most influential fashion mavens of all time.  I am always inspired by people who beat the odds and do great things, especially the "Average Joe's" and the "underdogs"-because it makes it more realistic for people like me to obtain my own personal goals for success.

As Christians, we find in the Word that we are God's chosen people -we have accepted Christ as our Savior and in turn we become royalty.  However, it's not always easy to have the overcomer mentality -especially when life deals us a tough turn (and it always does).

In my own personal life, I am dealing with the stronghold of negative thoughts.  My pastor teaches constantly about controlling your thought life.  He is not the only pastor who does this, it is a popular teaching within the Christian sphere right now -I have heard Joyce Meyer preach about this many times and another pastor, Greg Dickow, has started a 40 day fast from wrong thinking, which I am partaking in right now.

I don't know what CoCo Chanel's religious belief's were, if she had any at all, but she had the right attitude; no matter what her circumstances were, she knew that she was talented and that she would eventually achieve her goals.  You don't have to be a Christian to think positively, but it sure helps, especially when we know that we're equipped for greatness (like I said earlier, we're God's chosen people).

God has given all of us individual talents to use for His glory and wants our praise.  When you focus on that, and are obedient to Him, I believe that He will help us to achieve our heart's desires.

Do you ever feel like negative thoughts or other issues hold you back from fully achieving what God has planned for you or from using your talents and gifts?

Great reminder.  I have read about Chanel's life before, but she surely is an inspiration to us.  I think keeping positive is something we have to work on until it becomes part of our life.

I LOvE yOur Post! Very Inspiring! Yes, but i tend to have negative thoughts about myself making it. Especially since I am going forward with being an entrprenuer. I tend to look at other people who have made it, and at times feel hopeless for my self, thnking and speaking at times "Man, I don't have the will power, courage, nor the everyday strength to make it." God has definitely been dealing with me about how I speak about myself with my financial status, and career status particularly. All it takes is an action (thought) to speak a negative thing into existence. I give everyone else praises but I'm my worst critic. God has made us more than conquerors and overcomers of the world. Us Christains have to be in all places of influence, and be confidant in it to glorify God. :)

Romans 8/28-And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, whohave been called according to his purpose. (37)No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

1 John 5/4-5-for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

Joshua 1/9-Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."

Wow...I totally agree with this. We often think ourselves out of your own blessings. Blessings being that of what God has for us.

Great blog! I couldnt have done it better myself!

I love this post! And the quote from Coco Chanel. I am not a Christian, but Hindus believe in the same way. We should take what is best in us and let it out and not let other people decide that what God gave us is not good enough.

    Wonderful post.

Come check out my blog too. JustMe1417

Hahah, I was about to ask if you were going to watch the Lifetime movie about her.

Yeah, I have to say that my mind is a battlefield. I am constantly trying to think the right thoughts but, when I am not patrolling my mind's corridors, I fall back into the negative ones. I think I need to try this fast that you speak of.

Definitely...I'm pretty confident about my talents and my possibilities overall but in the day to day if I allow myself to cave in even a little bit to fear or self-doubt, it could have an effect on the long run--it wouldn't erase the talent God placed there, but it would diminish my ability to use it for a greater good.
