Too Tired...Even for God?
After a whirlwind of events - my mom visiting, bridal shower, friends flying in and staying over, JAMA conference, and my brother visiting - it has been an exhausting month. Everything was very enjoyable and I loved every minute of it, but now I'm so pooped. I have tons of cold sores and fatigue has set into my body and I just need some rest. Do you ever feel so tired that every muscle hurts and it takes too much effort to lift up your fingers?
At times like these, I just want to go home, plop on my couch, and veg for a couple hours before I have to go to bed. Instead of vegging, I should try to rest in God. Whenever I stay still, listen to praise songs, pray, and mediate on the Word, I always feel super refreshed, re-energized, and ready to do whatever I have to do next. It takes a bit more effort to stay still, but it's usually worth it in the end. When you're tired, how or where do you find rest?

a lot of times i would find myself falling asleep but has not spend time with God yet for that day, I would be praying. Instead of praying, actually, I chatted with God into sleep. It helps me fall asleep easily if i talked with God.sometimes it would be senseless without purpose babble.
Obviously, sleep. If I'm just exhausted but not sleepy, calculus homework!!!
I, too, often fall asleep "praying." It clears my mind of all the worries of the day and allows my mind to drift off. Then I feel guilty because I fell asleep talking to God, so I'm glad I'm not the only one who does this.
Sometimes, if it's been a particularly stressful day, I sit and read the Bible knowing it will "cleanse" me. I have read the Bible several times, front to back, and especially the New Testament, but I always find something that I missed in previous readings. I love that about it.
I agree! Reading the Bible or devotionals makes me feel refreshed.. :)
I love turning on the Christian radio station. Or putting in a CD of praise & worship music. It lifts me up even if I'm only coherent enough to just listen :D
I remember once being completely exhausted during a lifegroup. I could hardly keep my eyes open, much less focus on the discussion. I barely even spoke the whole time, I just kind of melted into the couch and wished that I could let it go and just sleep! One of the ladies in my group came over to me after the discussion and prayed over me - nothing big, nothing super-spiritual or churchy, but just a simple prayer. All of a sudden, I just felt this rush of energy and - no other way to put it - refreshedness wash over me. It's like my lungs were filled with new air, like when God breathed life into Adam. My senses were awakened and I was sharp and focused. I could have ran a marathon after that!
It's nice to be reminded of stuff like this, and to remember that when I am exhausted, all I have to do is simply as my Father for some refreshment. :)
Sadly...usually when I'm that tired, the last thing I do is turn to my Bible...prayer maybe, but not usaully my Bible. I need to work on spending more time with God period, wether tired or not. Thanks for the reminder! I needed it.
well...when i'm tired.......i just say a small prayer to god to ask him to give me a true rest...and fall asleep. haha.
I love the feeling I get when I let God "refresh" me a little. Praise is worship music is my favorite (David Crowder Band!!) =)
God Bless (and take a nap!)
Since the baby, I have what seems like little time to do anything with God, but I have tried to keep up my writing, and still need to work on reading more of the Bible, instead of sleeping. But it's true, when you pray, or read His word, or in my case, write, I always feel better cause I know that He can help, and I know that even praying before I go to sleep, usually when I am about to pass out, even makes me feel better.Â
I'm quite the insomniac, but I usually fall asleep praying. It's more because my wife is asleep several hours before me and, unless the baby's crying, that can be my quiet time. Last night, I fell asleep listening to greek vocab sung to classic children's songs.

you're my wife
To tell the truth i tend to just sit back and relax to rest, but when i need rest from school or the world i know i find my rest in just simply talking to God.
Mostly, I just take a nap.
sometimes, like your photo! many types of rest needed. Balance is a key. patience.
Ah... there is nothing I love more than to come home and do but one simple thing - even when I feel too tired to really talk with God.
I turn on a "God Time" playlist on my computer, go to my comfy chair, open my bible and begin to read. The music sets me into a time of worship while the words inscribed in the bible refresh and rejuvenate my spirit, giving me grace enough to spend that time with God I sorely need after a long hard day.
I always have a book with me even when I am out and about. I keep a little devotional book like guidepost or a readers digest. I can 'get away' almost anywhere if I have something to read. At home I hibernate in my room and with a book that will bring me into a deeper relationship with my Father in heaven.
Praise music always lifts me up also, I have been very ill in the last few years and the Lord is the only way I've been able to go through the trials I've had. But praise HIM for all--He will give us only what He can handle--we just need to chose to give it to HIM...
