God's Whisper in Nature
by mrs. violet
In June 2006, my daughter and I attended a Children's Prayer Network event at Uluru (Ayers Rock) in Australia. It was one of those moments where God fulfilled a desire in my heart and took me somewhere I had always yearned to go. We went as part of a team from the church we attended at the time. The Lord took me through a season that year where I seemed to experience signs in a new way. I hadn't really had this kind of experience before and I wasn't always convinced it was really happening.
At Uluru, we stood in a prayer line that the all the weekend participants had made to surround the whole of the rock. We had just finished praying for the Holy Spirit to come upon Australia. In my devotion that morning, I had read about the Holy Spirit coming upon the believers in the upper room with a whoosh, so I prayed that the Holy Spirit would 'whoosh' down on our nation.
All of a sudden I looked down the line, and the wind seemed to be bunny hopping trees that lined up almost parallel to the prayer warriors there. The gentlest breeze jumped from tree to tree right up the prayer line. I shook my head to make sure I wasn't imagining it, and took a look up and down the line. As I did this, my pastor called out, "Did you see that?" I then knew I hadn't imagined it. I looked up to my left where the rest of our team had lined up and were now singing praise to God. Almost directly in front of them, the wind formed a dust devil tunneling upward towards the heavens.
A little while later, we were praying for the nation to reflect God's glory through revival repentance. Out of nowhere, the June (winter) sun which had been quite pleasant up until that point, began to brighten and beat down upon us. It was as if God was focusing the sun's rays right back upon us, as if the glory of the Lord shone down on us as we prayed that our nation would shine for him.
Again I thought, perhaps I am just imagining this. But when we returned to our groups, others too had experienced the same thing and had been speaking about it amongst themselves. Even later on, other groups from different parts of the rock had similar experiences.
What happened in the Spiritual realm that weekend is for only God to know. What I do know is that God spoke to us through His whisper of nature (see 1 Kings 19:7-13) , to let us know that He was indeed with us at that time.
So you believe that God still speaks to us like this today? Has he ever spoken to you in a tangible way through nature?

Yes! He does. Meteors usually... Meteors mean alot too me and my family, and Meteor showers have always left poignant memories in my mind and have been a big part of my life.
So some night when I'm praying out underneath the stars I'll see a meteor just at the right time, just when I need it the most and its like God's way of saying I'm here. :) Man... I love God's creation... He is soooooor amazing isn't He?

Yes! I do believe God speaks to us today. He uses the Bible (the most) and speaks through others and YES through nature. I've heard him in different ways in nature, but repeatedly in sunsets. I recall one, while I was driving and had to pull over to see the entirety of its beauty, he said, "It's going to be okay." Another memorable one was a few hours after my puppy died...it was an acknowledgement of the life, even short, of a beloved creature, and through that, His love of my own heart. Often, it's a simple reminder of my husband and I being chosen for each other...we have an equal passion for God's beauty in sunsets. He feels that, when he photographs things, he is worshipping. He photographs sunsets a lot and chooses to live in apts and now our house with the view of the sunset in mind.
during my good friend's outdoor wedding reception (both her and her husband love God and puts their faith in the center of their relationship...so much so, that many say that their relationship is a blessing to them), the clouds literally opened up, to form a cross. it was unmistakable. Not something that some would say looked like it, and some would say, didn't... but unmistakably, a cross. It was amazing :)
That's very cool. God knows that this world is getting worse and worse...I hope that He does bring a revival. :)
I do believe that God speaks this way through nature! All the time, if we but listen!! As I type this, I can see a gorgeous peach, blue, pink and purple sunset through my window. Hardly a day goes by that I don't notice some little, special token of His love in my surroundings. Sometimes, however, like in this story and in some of the comments, God speaks in an even more startling way through nature. I've also experienced that, through some very specially timed shooting stars, a firefly at just the right moment, or something an animal does that reminds me how much He cares in a specific way. I would feel so distant from God without nature screaming His goodness and tender care at me!
