• Christian Acronyms

  Seeing Mr. Oak's BIBLE acronyms reminded me that in every culture, you normally have things that only people in that culture will understand and appreciate. Here are a few Christian acronyms that I've picked up over the years :

  WWJD? - What would Jesus Do? This might just be the ultimate cliche related to the Christian culture out there! But you know what? I love it!!

  FROG - Fully Rely On God. When I first saw FROG I thought, "What? Frog? What do frogs have to do with God? I really don't like frogs very much, but this cool cartoon frog is just soooo cute, I just have to plaster my notebooks with it". Yay!!!!

  PUSH - Pray Until Something Happens. I first heard of this via an email story. A man would go out every day and push at a tree stump buried into the ground. The tree would refuse to move but he kept on pushing and pushing daily until one day he got the tree uprooted from it's spot in his yard and was able to move it. Personally, I would just hire a guy with a truck and the right tools to get the tree out of the way, but I don't think that would make a good story as to how we need to persevere in our prayers.

  FAITH - Forsaking All, I Trust In Him. I've seen this also as For All I Trust Him. I think I like the first one, kinda gives you a better idea of what faith is.

  DOG - Depend On God. I have to admit that I was a bit skeptical about this because God spelt backwards is dog and for some reason that never sat right with me. Yet, when I saw this on a dog tag, well ... I just had to pick it up. :)

  FEAR - False Evidence Appearing Real. I strongly believe it's all about the presentation. I saw this in an email where someone took the time to play with ascii art so that when you scrolled down you got a really nice show with all the letters of fear falling into the acronym ... it was way to cool to not remember.

  JOY - Jesus, Others, Yourself. What better way to remember how to pray (note: the Lord's Prayer) and how to find true joy by putting others before yourself.

  ABC - Let's not forget the most important of all - Salvation is as easy as ABC - Accept, Believe and then Confess.
