Christian Teachings
This is an older video that I just discovered. It's a little long but worth the watch. The guy did an impressive job of laying out the basic teachings of Christianity. Watch it 'til the end.

What do you guys think?

WOW .... wasn't expecting that
I love anthing about Christianity. :)
reactions:
1. oh man, the 90s middle part. i just wanted to mess up his hair so badly!
2. didn't expect that ending, but at the same time, while i was watching the video i thought something was off about what he was saying. of course, there will be a heaven and hell, but his "teaching" seemed centered around obeying the Bible to get to heaven. he talked about saving others from the burning building, but no mention of the grace of Jesus Christ, which is the key.
of course, evangelism is important - it is the last thing Jesus told us to do on earth. but i think we can evangelize without making it a goal-oriented, numbers game/rescue mission. i think if our life's purpose is to glorify God, others will see that naturally, and we should rely on the Holy Spirit's prompting to start gospel conversations.
but i do agree with him that christians need to understand their faith better, and be able to explain it and the exact reasons why we believe.
i agree with haemina... but definitely didnt see the atheist part coming.. i thought it was just very logical with his speaking? ... yeah i was waiting for a 'shocker' and was very surprised..
Honestly I didn't get to the end initially and just wanted to read the comments.
My initial opinion was that I thought this guy was borrrringggggg...
Not to be mean, I know people have called me monotone before, but forrealll I could not watch this till the end. X__X Sorry, I don't mean to offend.
But then I got it. When speaking, this guy had logos, but no charisma for some reason. He wasn't convincing when I thought he was a Christian trying to encourage/edify other Christians. It's like he was preaching about numbers...
But once I found out it's because he's an atheist, it all made sense. He didn't believe in the things he was saying Christians should do (because he isn't one!). That's why he wasn't convincing in his preaching about how "other" Christians should act...he does not believe in God himself.
However...after knowing this, and hearing his opinion as an atheist (he's transparent now, we know! lol) I got so much out of what he said. That is true. We shouldn't be ashamed, but people respect us for standing up for what we believe in. And when we don't, perhaps they are disappointed. Perhaps it lessens the credibility of Christianity. =/ Actions always speak louder than words. I want to remember this tomorrow, and the next day, and the next...to remember that yes, even atheists are watching us, and some I bet are even hoping that we do some "Bible-thumping" something to prove them wrong. I bet a million dollars there must be people out there like this. We're all seekers of truth. Why is it that we believe and they don't? We all have grace for the taking. For us who've chosen to receive it, let's really strive to live His love in our lives so that maybe someone will notice, and maybe someone, and many will come to believe.
(I hope I'm making sense 'cuz I'm not editing as much as I'd like since I gots to sleep! lol)
wow....that was a fascinating thing to watch...and it only point out that each person has an innate understanding and realization of God...but it's a matter of personal decision to choose between Life and Death...i totally agree with everything that this guy said and he would most certainly be a great missionary or evangelist if he ever accepted Jesus...
good post, surprising ending.. he forgot/don't know/don't understand the part of what is true christianity though: grace, relationship, humility.
Definitely an interesting ending to the video. While he did present his argument logically, he didn't really explain the reason why we as christians should be passionate about sharing the gospel. Kinda brings some guild on me because I know I haven't been as passionate and as mission oriented as I should have been regarding sharing the good news yet he (as an unbeliever) can visualize the passion and persistence that we should have given what we know and believe.
Pray that God will endow us with the boldness that is needed to share his good news with those who have yet to believe. Pray that we will not be brought down by the feelings of shame that may come from this, but rather that we would be encouraged to be examples against this view of christians (primarily laziness).
Most interesting. However, he missed the point completely. The first step in the Great Commission is in something Jesus taught before giving the Great Commission. John 13:35 "By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." We aren't known for our devotion to the Bible, nor for witnessing, but rather love for our fellow Christians. Don't let atheists shame you into doing something...First things first. Until we love those within our Church family how can we love the lost world?
Cheerful
Fantastic!
Love it!
Agree 100%
I think he has a better grasp of Christianity than many Christians.
x
WHOA.
Well... um... I'm not exactly sure how to respond to that! Haha. I thought he made a lot of really good points, and I'd like to hear him explain why he's an atheist...
And who do you suppose gave him a fighting chance? I wonder how he learned so much and knows so much about our faith and still rejects it.
he seems to get it more than Christians...that's pretty upsetting
