God Still Does the Impossible
from poids_de_gloire
We were in an aquarium for Confirmation class one afternoon with a few other parishes including St. Mary's and Our Lady of Guadelupe. It was a day-retreat, one that was meant to help us “appreciate God's creation.” Everyone knew, however, that this was actually a favor on the part of the aquarium after one of their large tanks somehow shattered a few hours before last July's parish fundraiser, soaking a grand's worth of sound equipment and sending thousands of Atlantic fish in the face of the Lady's Guild organizers and in all the soup dishes. In addition to replacing the equipment, they gave the parish 100 free tickets for the next year.
What I did not know was that Mrs. Benedetti, our Sunday School teacher and head of the Ladies Guild, had been an avid scuba diver in Miami during her college years. I could not imagine her short, tubby form in all that black spandex, but Mom assured me that she looked different back then. Mrs. Benedetti led us in and around the tanks, pointing out in detail the characteristics of certain fish, lingering especially on the “Atlantic coral reef” section.
Somewhere in the midst of a zebra fish description, I was tracing my finger against the undulant blue patterns emanating from the tank, hoping that a fish would follow me, when Mrs. Benedetti announced, “Okay, well, now that we've covered this part of the aquarium, what I want you to do is get in pairs with a member from another parish and talk a bit about one or two things you've seen today that help you think of God differently from what you thought of Him before.” I immediately thought of Mrs. Benedetti trying to maneuver her limbs through that tight wetsuit and realized that God still does the impossible. What "impossible" things is God doing in your life right now?

He's doing the biggest thing ever for me right now: He's keeping me and my boyfriend connected. We spent a lot of time together during the first year of our relationship, but now that he's gone to college and I'm still in high school, it's been tougher. I've only seen him on weekends and we talk on the phone as much as possible. Now that it's summer, he works and lives at a camp where he can barely use his phone, and I'm in full time summer school. We both pray about it and the Lord helps us to keep our relationship strong. Now THAT'S a miracle!
God is all about doing the impossible in my life : )) I was told I'd never birth any children. I have three girls who all were created in my womb! God has healed me of severe chest pains, fibromyalgia and the worst case of a frozen shoulder. He truly is the Great Physician when we cry out to Him and believe that He can choose to take away our diseases and our illnesses. Thanks God for doing impossible miracles!
haha this was hilarious! but yes, i think everytime i choose to listen to God instead of my own selfish wants is pretty much a miracle.
Wow, not too much actually makes me literally laugh out loud, but this certainly did. Good job!
Right now God is promising me joy in a very stressful season. I have recently found freedom from depression, which is huge for me.
