Meet Mrs. Violet
Revelifers meet our newest writer! Please say hello to...
Mrs. Violet, Cheshire, UKAge: 36
Occupation: Homeschooling mama!
About me: I was born in the UK to working class parents who had heads full of dreams and hearts full of hope. When I was two they packed up my sister and I and set out for Australia. Who would have thought that part of that journey was for them to come to know the Lord Jesus Christ when a Baptist pastor knocked on their door? Around my 6th birthday, I committed to Christ after a experiencing a vivid dream. My parents believed this to be very real and reportedly saw changes in my character and personality as a result of my choice. With my parents in and out of various ministries over the years, from raising Australian Indigenous children, to pastoring an Indigenous church, and living on various bible college campuses, I saw a lot of Australia and a lot of how God works in real ways in the lives of those who live by faith and hope in Him.
During my final year at high school, some unfortunate family events occurred that almost tore us all apart. I spent the next 4 years in various states of 'spiritual dysfunction', culminating in becoming pregnant with a non-Christian during my final year of university.
And so began my discovery of the forgiveness and grace of a very great God.
Almost 15 years later, I find myself living a dream. In February of this year, we packed up our now 5 children and moved to the UK, where my husband is still searching for work. Funnily enough, even though my husband still does not know Jesus, God most definitely leads us. It is amazing how He can 'whisper' to to the hearts of the unsaved when we persevere in prayer.
I am learning whole new realms of faith, Christian community and hope as I trust God to take care of us during our adventure. Revelife is quickly becoming a wonderful and integral part of my Christian community right now, as I find myself in a transient life situation.
Random things I like: A black mocha (black coffee with chocolate powder), reading the Sharpe series of books, photography, Yum Cha (Dim Sum) and my Mac.
