Guy 101: How to act when someone's crying

If you're anything like me, one of the scariest moments in life for a guy is when your significant other is crying. i mean, think about it - the only times we're familiar with liquids coming out of someone's head is when we're playing counterstrike and getting a headshot (*cue "HEADSHOT" wav file* FTW!!!). so when we see our significant other, the one person you would give your left kidney to, crying - it's difficult to see and more importantly, confusing on how to react. so here's my guide on how to act when someone is crying....WHEN A GIRL IS CRYING
Step 1
figure out why they're crying
this is key. don't always assume crying is a bad thing. sometimes people cry because they're happy. maybe they're praying and had this great divine epiphany - or sometimes (so i hear, yet, do not understand at all) some people just want a 'good' cry. it's cathartic for them. and other times, it's just that - they feel sad. but bottomline - figure out why they're crying! Giving her a hallmark card from the "Sympathy" section would be dumb if she's crying because she's so happy to be with you. good job winner!Step 2
Listen
get the q-tips, clean out your ears. girls work differently than guys - if a guy cries we all react the same...we laugh at you. it's the best way to cope. this does not work for girls. the best thing you can do is listen and just be silent.Step 3

Comfort Hug
sometimes a good hug could mean everything. just don't do a bear hug...you need to get it just right. best way to know is to make sure you don't hear her wheezing and then squirming and then complete stillness - that would be bad, lenny. instead, hug just enough to comfort and hand her a tissue.Step 5
Tissue
when someone is having a serious cry - let's admit it all to ourselves - we look horrible. snot, runny eyes, puffy eyes, smears of tears, and the constant shivering of the body. tissue is like the small bandaid to the holland dam. it's small, but at least it's something - having tissue around will at least control the horribleness. DO NOT use toilet paper. nothing's worse than being in your most vulnerable moment to have butt paper handed to you. yup - i said it on a christian website - butt paper.Step 6
Pray
sometimes, some cries simply do not have any resolution. in ways, we're often put in the lowest possible place and are confused what to do next. this is where you can pray for the person. cause, let's face it - when we're in the lowest place we could ever be, one of the only things that's left to do, is to look up.ok - now the second part, what to do when a guy cries

That was a good post lol ^_^ But I like when guys cry. I mean, I dont enjoy their tears or anything, but its nice because then they dont feel like theyre too good to cry. Why should anyone be too good to cry?? My boyfriend hates crying because he says it makes him look weak....well, when i cry, do I look weak? We were given tears for a reason, but do guys have to be *manly* and not shed a tear?
Personally, guys who dont believe in crying is a huge turn off for me :P
this should be taught to every guy! (don't laugh at us when we cry, we feel horrible as it is and you're laughing at us?) and the bear hug is the best =]

good advice! and nicely done. even for my female friends, it really is what works best and makes both of you feel better about the emotional situation (i'm not an emo-girl, can ya tell? haha) in fact, sometimes its easier to just hold someone and not worry about what words to say anyway--and it helps 200 times more than "the right words" if there is such a thing.
