Test of Forgiveness
by mr. oak
Imagine having your whole family hacked and clubbed to death and then meeting the killer (who was your neighbor.) what would you do?
Iphigenia Mukantabana, a Christian basket weaver, decided to forgive her family's murderer and even go as far as sharing lunch with him."In my heart, the dead are dead, and they cannot come back again," Mukantabana said of those she lost. "So I have to get on with the others and forget what has happened."
If you saw "Hotel Rwanda" you would have a rough idea of the types of atrocities that occurred there in the 90s.
"There is Rwanda, there are Rwandans, and the common interest we have for a better future for this country is more important than any other interest."
Now, Iphigenia weaves baskets known as "peace baskets" to help build rwanda's economy. Sometimes, all it takes is a little bit of forgiveness to rebuild a nation. Have you experienced forgiveness to this level?
if you're interested in the peace baskets that rwandan women are making to rebuild their nation, you can find them here: http://www.macys.com/campaign/rwanda/index.jsp

the baskets are beautiful - the forgivness - incredible - you've not heard of any malfeasance in the 'business' of selling these? I'd really like to support it - have done a cursory search - there are a few outfits besides Macy's selling them..
amazing, when i get some money i'll definitely buy one.
