American Idol: David vs David...?
first of all, how many of us wished the other guy was named "goliath" cause that would be super awesome.
any event - this week will be the epic battle between david archuleta and david cook to determine who would be this year's american idol.I think what intrigued me more was the 'other' david we all know - david crowder. according to a recent post david crowder's song 'almost' got featured on american idol but was apparently pulled. i'm currently sitting on the fence as to who to vote for (wifey wants archuleta to win, i'm mixed) which made me think - if one of the AI davids sang a david crowder song, would i be more inclined to vote for him?
well - in ways, i can see it because i love dcb* and it also means i have similar tastes (and possibly interests) with the contestant that sings it.
but in reality - whether someone sings a Christian song or not doesn't matter! we are all flawed like everyone else...and as hungry hibiscus' post "who would Jesus choose" post tells you, would it even matter? singing a Christian song doesn't make one a 'better' singer (which the shows tries to find.) but at the same time song choice is important.
so what would you do? first - who would you vote for Archuleta? or Cook? and if the other person sang a David Crowder song - would that be enough to sway you to vote for them instead?

Personally, I want Cook to win simply because he seems to be able to be more diverse in his singing (he was amazing when he sang Sir Andrew Llyod Weber's Music of the Night). Don't get me wrong, Archuleta is good - it's just I can only listen to someone sing ballads so many times before it starts to get old. I do give him credit for trying to sing something other than a ballad, however, he didn't do it that well. Either way, they'll both get a record deal out of this.
If Archuleta were to sing David Crowder, and he were to genuinely sound better than anything Cook sang that night, I might be swayed enough to vote for him. But I truely believe that just because he would sing David Crowder would not make me vote for him simply based on song choice.Â
So far, I'd like to see cook win it. But, we'll see how the performances go this week.
huge cook fan here. i haven't seen talent like that in years...very versatile & he overall seems like a standup guy. i love that the orange bracelet that he wears each week is in honor of one of his youngest fans who is battling cancer. he apparently hasn't taken it off since she gave it to him in the top 12 (or something). Anyway- I like him & I hope he wins! Archuleta is great too, & honestly it will be great either way- but I'm still rooting for Cook! :)
Cook actually sang switchfoot 2 weeks ago. My wife and I both looked at each other and were stunned and were like ROCK ON!!!
Nope, No and Nay. Xanga Idol is much better I think. :D
