Jesus and Aliens: SWEEEET
So apparently the Vatican's chief astronomer has declared that believing alien life does not contradict a faith in God.
Ok - first of all.....no joke, i started laughing when i read this. not that i'm anti-alien...but i had this crazy vision of ET going to my church. honestly - that would be sweet. (see pic)But i never understood the conflict there - why it would even be remotely impossible for aliens to exist and believe in God. I don't think it would be far-fetched to think there are other beings out there. I mean, afterall - God created the universe and the things in it - what gets me is that, there's a strong delineation between animals of the earth and man. We are made in his image - and man is given authority over all these creatures....fish of the sea, birds of the air, and every living creature on the ground. but ah ha - I wonder if God was only talking about earth. Also, would other aliens be also made in God's image?
What's the hierarchy with aliens? What if aliens were told that they had rule over all the humans on earth? basically, they would come to earth and do as they wish.... I don't enjoy the thought of being some alien's pet...or food rather.
In fact, for a while I wondered if aliens were really evolved human beings from the future who built time machines to go back and examine us. which explains why they're always fleeing - they don't want to mess up history.
Bottomline - so what's the deal with aliens - if aliens existed how would that change Christianity as you know it today?

I agree... I don't see how the two conflict with each other.
i think if aliens exist, they probably look less like our movie depictions and more like us. but that'd just be creepy. i have no idea how to respond to this post. i wonder more about dinosaurs actually. i am definitely asking God about that in heaven!
Yes, I laughed when I saw that as well. And I love your ET picture! I don't believe in aliens, although I've never had any encounters with them either.
lol ... I can't understand how people can be so oook in believing in Aliens but not in God.
I don't think alien creatures exist but sometimes I do wonder if what people see is not a manifestation of spiritual activity? who knows what's out there in the cosmos?

I don't understand why it would be so weird for Aliens and God to exist either. I mean, do you really think in this huge universe, we are the only living beings? Wouldn't that be a waste of space? I'm sure God created other worlds with humans on it. I'm not sure if I believe in all the UFO sightings and everything, but I definately think God has other children out there.
