  • Christian TV Host "Comes Out"

Azariah Southworth There's a hotly debated topic involving a Christian music television host, Azariah Southworth, who has publically come out as a gay man according to the Christian Post

Southworth says that he found true freedom after 16 years of identifying himself as being gay.  In fact, after his coming out, Southworth stated that he has received so much encouragement from his church that he was surprised.

Southworth's public coming out will no doubt be subject to criticisms by many Christian groups.  In fact, it has been reported that as of last Thursday, one network has taken off Southworth's show, The Remix, off the air.  It is unclear whether more are to follow or whether The Remix will continue at all.

Nevertheless, it's encouraging to see Christians embrace Azariah for being honest and finding his freedom.  As for what Southworth thinks about the potential negative feedback he might receive:

"I hope that they (Christians) don't do that, because that is not who Jesus was at all," he told After Elton. "His closest friends were the prostitutes and the tax collectors and the sinners. They were the low-life people of that time. So I hope they don't do that."

If your favorite Christian VJ turned out to be gay, how would it affect you watching the show?  Would it at all?

not sure how i feel about this yet.  i absolutely think homosexuals should be loved and accepted as any other human being. but i also think they should be on the road to repentance and healing as any other sinful human being should be because homosexuality is not how God wanted us to be.

BUT, speaking from a secular/typically-American POV: if his show is cancelled or he gets fired, he could totally sue for discrimination.  if he were a Pastor or a spiritual leader of some kind, i'd understand if people wanted him to step down.  but he's just a tv personality and he has a right to keep his job no matter what his sexual orientation is.

Hae is right on that one, that was my first thought when tv removed the show simply cuz he admit to be gay, he should have sued.

However, he must be very Christian not to sue. Because God wouldn't want anyone to fight evil with evil, either. And I agree, any homosexual should be loved and respect. Because God created them, therefore, they are His children and He loves EVERYONE and EVERYTHING.

For one thing, I am one to struggle this bisexuality. It would not have effect me at all to know if the person I admire admit to be gay. Crushed and/or surprised, yes. But will that quit me from admiring them?

    Nope.
